Complaints from Customers mount in the UK that PayPal is Taking Their Money

PAYPAL stands accused of using bully-boy tactics to scare customers into paying back money before disputes have been settled.

Money Mail readers say that they are receiving letters from debt recovery companies demanding payment of disputed sums even though PayPal has been told the Financial Ombudsman Service is investigating complaints.

While there is no specific law preventing firms from attempting to reclaim money while the Ombudsman is investigating, the FOS says that it could lead to consumers being awarded compensation for being caused undue stress and harassment.

City watchdog the Financial Services Authority warns that PayPal's actions might go against the first principle of its business rules which requires firms to abide by high standards of integrity and fairness...
