Moon that cartoon is priceless! Right down to the bathrobe and pink slippers. Are you the talent responsible for creating it?

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Hi again, everyone!
moon, I love that cartoon! That is fabulous! Platzki, I live in PA, too, just north of Philly. My son's in kindergarten, so he's coming home at normal time. My hubby's home because he's a bricklayer and can't work in this weather, which means I don't get anything done. LOL He's determined to take my daughter to preschool. We'll see how it is when we pick Charlie up at 11:45. Anyway, I decided since everyone was coming out, I may as well, too. I'm Rebecca from Rebecca's Book Den. I was small potatoes, only 288 items when I started moving them to eCrater. I knew that things were going downhill at WP, so I refused to put more and more work into the store unless things improved, which they never did. I hung in there with the store until the grand opening to see if it would make a difference. It's hard to believe when I see the numbers that the advertising has not only not been effective, traffic has taken a nosedive. The comfort is that my last sale was $50, enough to pay for the last few months of waiting it out. Anyone who says we didn't give it a chance has no idea what goes on. I advertised my butt off everywhere I could think of and nothing happened, just a trickle here and there. Besides, if you have to pay a monthly fee, no matter how small, and a FVF, no matter how small, the site should be doing the advertising in a big way. I give a lot of credit to the Poppers who are making good money there. It's all their own hard work, not WPs. And if they're getting sales without advertising, they're one of the very few lucky ones. If WP could bring in traffic, we could've all had good sales, not just a few. I had every intention of staying a year when I started in July, but I expected more progress than this. And I thought maybe I would go back if things improve, but I don't see that happening. I just wanted to say one thing that I've never seen brought up, but listing on WP is a nightmare if you have a Mac. I used Safari and could get things listed, but my text would never show up left-aligned, which I like better than centered. I'd have to go back in Netscape to correct that. And I couldn't use Netscape to begin with because it wouldn't do the listing in the first place. They kept telling me it was optimized for IE. Well, that's just great, there's NO updated IE for Mac. So much for that. Big hello again now that I'm out to Sherrand, moon, Designer, Fine, I remember you all from WP! Everyone was excited and hopeful back then. To the WPers lurking, I hope you have continued success. I just wish it could've worked out for a lot more people. Didn't mean to write so much. LOL Time to go pick up Charlie! Rebecca Rebecca's Book Den but I'm keeping isawthelight - I like it

Think you'll like eCRATER - the site does no advertising for you, so that's on you to do, but they do regular Google/Froogle feeds and I think that helps. I've been there since I left WP and waited a couple-few months for sales to start happening, but they have and I'm happy about it! Traffic is slow till you get picked up, but you're not investing money into the site in hopes of something in return. And any new website will take some time to get found and visited regularly - me waiting a couple/few months for my first sale wasn't all that hard... WP had prepared me to wait a lot longer! > |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Rebecca,
Even though you saw the light - welcome to the dark side! I certainly remember you and you are so right, we were all there in the happier, blissfully ignorant days. Once upon a time, booksellers ruled on WP. It was the highest populated category and page 1 of the stores list was loaded with them. Over 16,000 listings at the time I left. Today there are just over 9,000 on the same page and one of these sellers has been slowly pulling inventory. Thanks for sharing your story. I never knew of the problems MAC people had on WP. What a nightmare.
The one thing you can never afford to lose is your temper.
