Sherrand I used to find double listings in my store a lot and towards the end it was happening more. I was trying to end my listings and more were popping up. Only thing is I never noticed any with the same listing # all mine had different listing #'s and different end times. I always had to keep checking my store for them and delete them because with the jewelry especially most items I only have one of. I didn't want to have 2 people purchase it only having one of the item. Even though the chances of that happening on WP are slim. [/quote] Scoop, I don't doubt you for a moment. Although it didn't happen to me, I found many, many, examples of what you are testifying to in my 'research' of other stores following my departure. And the sellers I felt comfortable about approaching and asking about this anomaly confirmed they had no idea their item had been duplicated with separate auction listing numbers to boot. Thank the Lord there has never been a bidding war on an item at WP. It sure helps mask the faults and save the seller from embarrassment. :blinkie:

Sherrand,
I C & P that seller's item description and did a search on google and froogle. It doesn't show up on either. Now it was listed on the 17th, but shouldn't it at least be showing in froogle with an exact title put in the search field? :blinkie: If so what happened to WP's froogle feed? |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Banana, good question!
I'm useless with the in's and out's of manipulating google/froogle feed but what I can claim a bit of brain matter for is recognizing patterns. Those sellers all excited about recognizing their items through their SEO feed efforts are suspiciously finding items that were listed weeks/months ago and that are still showing up because of 'good until canceled' renewals. And they were most likely indexed weeks ago. Brand spanking new listings - well a few sellers have expressed concern, coached in servitude wording, that their listings are not showing up - even with the exact title being input in the search. So what can these unfortunates or we conclude? KaRay's feed if more wombat poo poo?

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I also did a random check of 2 items from 2 top selling stores on WP. In both cases no froogle for the item on WP. In one case the seller has the item on ebay, that showed up on froogle. The other seller's item didn't show up on google, or froogle. A similar titled item did show on a google search, but it was for an ebay store.
I suspect that Ray didn't upgrade the rscript to correct the feed to froogle with the new specifications. I know that one of the seller's items I did a test on had all of her items showing up on froogle consistently not too long ago. I hope the sellers go and check on their own items. They need to go ahead and use the exact title of the item. If that doesn't bring up the item you know there is a problem. :blinkie: |

Quote:If so what happened to WP's froogle feed? Maybe Google Base is screwed up? Our Google Base FTP uploads have been screwed up this month. The FTP upload appears to go through fine from our end but nothing is showing up in our Base accounts. When we manually upload the same feed file through our Base account the items show up.

Sherrand...you're very much on the ball for someone that should be sleeping! *lol*
Chiquita...I checked out your sons site again, works great and it's awesome! I'm a football junkie...ok...well...I just like the tight ends if you want to know the truth! But it really is a cool site, I sent it to some die hard football fan friends of mine. You know, people that actually KNOW the players' names and what position they play. I just like to...um...watch. *lmao* |

Truth, that last one to disappear (I'm not saying close) was a relatively new store:

Quote:This is just my opinion, my preferences and my shopping habits. I don't give a fat flying fart whether an auction has a gallery photo or not. It might mean peering at the screen a bit harder and a few more clicks of the mouse for me to research the listing but so what. As usual, Sherrand, your posts are eloquent and thought-provoking. Your logic is undeniable. But, as you said, you are NOT the typical buyer (neither am I, for that matter). The bottom line is I have to dumb down my listings to pander to the majority of buyers who are e-commerce channel surfers. The sad truth is, if you don't grab them in a nano-second with a picture or a flashy title, the majority will move on. As cheap as I am (and I am -- just ask my DH), I put gallery pictures on every listing. Unlike Sherrand, I don't have the luxury of relying on another job that pays the bills. E-commerce is my livelihood, and most buyers have the attention span of an amoeba. That's just reality. |
