Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Hi ya, Designers Bargains. BIG? LOL. I think in the beginning of WP2, we were all big cheerleaders. Back then, our members were a real WP family group and we did all work together on trying to promote WP. By promoting WP, we promoted ourselves. We were the real WP. As things started going down-hill in the forums and the censorship etc started, it started to change me too. I stayed longer as I still had a lot of friends there but I think there was 2 things that pushed me over the edge. It may sound silly, but first off it was that dumb editor. They never did fix it. Second, here's the silly one, the icon for the founding members. WP gave everyone one. Or pretty close to it. I thought that, that icon would have meant something to all the real (seniors now or ex-poppers) founding members who really pushed WP in promotion. Silly, huh?

Hi Bric I'm glad to see you finally made it here.
I was reading this thread yesterday and couldn't believe some of the comments that were posted on WP. I would have commented on them yesterday but the first time I went to post I lost my satilite the dish got covered with snow. The second time I went to post I lost my power due to high winds. Hopfully I'll make it through this post without losing it again. Quote:It is easier for them to blame WP for their own perceived lack of success than it is for them to admit that they still have much to learn. Quote:At the same time, for others it represents something new to treat with fear and disdain, extending what is likely a theme in their own lives of either disappointment or underachievement. It's not really about Wagglepop, but more about themselves. These statements are just a lot of us posting here gave WP more than a fair shot. I was there for about 10 months. What I and others post here comes from our experience with WP. It has nothing to do with our own perceived lack of success or that WP represented something new to treat with fear and disdain, extending what is likely a theme in their own lives of either disappointment or underachievement. WTH :blinkie: Many of the sellers posting here are successful. They were successful before WP and still are. Many are finding even more success after leaving WP. I will not say my business is booming yet but I will say in the short time since I've left WP I've just about caught up to the # of sales I made on WP in 10 months time. I think those of us who left WP were the ones who were smart enough to see through the lies and the endless Anyone still selling on WP open your eyes there are just some facts that can not be denied. |

I thought that Founding Member icon was ridiculous, too. As a buyer, it wouldn't give a wombat poo poo if the seller I was working with had one of those dopey icons. What I found most objectionable about it was that it was symbolic of the way Ray thinks and runs his business: Make a big deal out of something that takes no effort on his part to effect, costs him nothing, solves nothing, accomplishes nothing, benefits no one, is for looks and warm fuzzies only. Anything to stroke sellers -- the "chosen" ones -- and buy another month of sellers' fees. It's all part of the Grand Deceit. |

[/quote] Bric I don't think those are silly. That editor was a problem and the thing that bothered me most about it was that when someone would post a question about a problem they were having with it. WP would post making it sound like it was the seller doing something wrong with their code instead of admitting there was a problem and fixing it. I know I posted and told a few of the sellers how to work around it so they could do what they were trying to do. I felt bad they needed help and WP was acting like there was no problem. One time when I posted and told a seller how to change the picture in her listing when revising it. They could not do it because there was a problem with this feature too you could not modify the image you had to delete then add the new image. After I posted and told them how to do it WP came on and posted a big long response all about it takes time before it changes and blah blah. Then the very last sentence of the post they told the seller to do what I told them to do for maximum optimization WTH. I felt the same about the founding member icon they way they did it made it pretty much meaningless as far as I was concerned. Like you say they gave it to just about everyone. What's even funnier even though they gave it to everyone I think it won't be long before there are no more founding members at the rate sellers are leaving. |
