And another one bites the dust:
188 I, too, was surprised to see Fishinpuddycat blow the poop deck. She was one of the more successful sellers and a stanch WP supporter. |

Quote:pottery barn bedding and more Closed at Pottery Barn's request for violating their trademark? ;D I don't think they'd be happy to have their name attached to a WP store since they're the company that banned eBay sellers from buying from their outlet stores last year. They've also been very aggressive in defending their trademark when people have registered similar domain names. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
regic, good info. It could very well be that they were forced to close. This store only listed one item when it was active and it was a bedding set from Pottery. Ah, to be a fly on the wall...
rho, I don't use a spreadsheet, just bookmarks and this system has served me well. Here's a trend that I find laughable and disgusting at the same time. It is a practice that does more to harm sellers, and the site overall, then help them. On WP or any alternate auction site for that matter. So many new stores open boasting 1,000s of items for sale, yet only list one or two before they yank the cord and disappear. Do they seriously think it is an alluring ploy to entice future buyers? And when a potential buyer (or someone who thinks the seller has potential) checks in again a couple of weeks later to find the same solo or 3 items listed, does the seller not realize the negative impact they are delivering? That the potential buyer has lost confidence and has departed for good? How long have these sellers been stupid!! A few examples from store descriptions on WP (the practice is not limited to this site): One to three item wonders listed, that's all they have bothered to put in their stores: Quote:xxxxxxx Gaming is Your source for Video Games, Movies, CD's, Books and Much More. Quote:Hello and thank you for stopping by! I will be offering a little bit of everything including vintage costume jewlery, vintage clothing, antiques, collectables Quote:my store has thousands of items all at amazig prices. Quote:Offers a wide variety of brand new auto body parts for all makes and models Quote: Excellent selection of website building software and informations products. Quote:Howdy Ya'LL. Here you will find any and everything from Antiques to brand new Items. Quote:OUR STORE HAVE A MAJORITY OF USED ITEMS. WE CARRY ALL KIND OF ITEMS. Quote:I sell a variety of items, but we specialize in watches and framed tiles. Reminder - none of these stores quoted have more than 3 items listed but they sure talk big! The store content should physically reflect and support the wording given in the store description. If a buyer cannot interpret or identify trust in such boastful wording, how in BeJesus can the seller expect their blinkin item(s) to sell? Or are they on an auction suicide mission when they open their cyberspace yaps? If a seller can't back up their initial store description words with stock that will support their words then what makes them think a buyer would trust anything else they claim? A tasteful, ACCURATE introduction to their store would benefit them more regardless of how many items they exhibit for sale. WP, as used in my examples, seems to be attracting the uneducated sellers who are not only doomed to fail but will drag the more dedicated sellers down with them by reputation - not that Ray needs any help in destroying his venue. He is doing quite well on his own. I don't know about the rest of you but when I read such verbose bragging and then view the paltry offerings listed, I lose all interest in exploring those stores, ultimately the site, and move on. In my view just another nail in WP2's coffin.
The one thing you can never afford to lose is your temper.

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
How insulting.
So now Ray will be "in the trenches" with the other WP listers which I've read is PS's "favorite, favorite" part of the announcement. Pass me the pipe, PS - I'd like some of what she's smoking. Ray will no more be "in the trenches" as our President is "in the trenches" in Iraq with our servicemen. Ray will have no skin in the game - it won't cost him $29.95 per month to list with the rest of the faithful. He will also have the benefit of the search reports, leading him down the primrose path of what the WP "buyers" are searching for on the site. AndRay refused to share that information with the faithful last month and instead pointed the forum users to E-bay's Pulse report for the most searched for items. At least AndRay admits that only 100 or so listers are expected to remain once the changes come full circle - must be getting the faithful ready for the store numbers after the non-paying store bloodbath which is expected any moment now for May. That's about a 50% loss of listers. Those listers are WP's customers. I certainly wouldn't consider a 50% loss of customers within 60 days to be success. But that's wagglespeak for you - that language has a whole new dictionary chock full of definitions unheard of in the rest of the business world. |

Quote:by Sherrand: Boy did I resonate with that comment -- an issue that has bothered me forever and I attributed to more WP unsubstantiated braggadocia, basically reflective of the whole demeanor of this poor excuse or an ecommerce venue. Such sellers have no, zip, zero, nada, ziltch credibility with me. Yes, we sell everything but soup to nuts in automotive replacements parts, but funny, we have only one thing to sell on WP. |
