The bulk uploads for Google Base and Froogle are working perfectly. We're uploading from 4 of our web sites. We click one button to automatically generate the bulk upload files and a second to FTP the files to Base (or Froogle).  The whole process takes under 1 minute per web site.

EDIT: Amazon Auctions bulk uploader is also painless.

I remember last year -- he said the bullk lister was not high priority.  Preferred to have a seller take the time to list each item so there would be a mix in the categories, not just hundreds of one seller's items that buyers would have to wade thru.  That's actually wishful thinking a fairly good scenario and marketing plan.  Mega-sellers sure whined about it, tho -- threatening to never list on WP til he had one....

These 2 articles are focused on Web 2.0 companies but the comments apply equally to Wagglepoop and the talk of last year's 'massive' 2400 registered user stampede to the site. Substitute the words 'the valley' in the article with 'the forums'.

p.s. Raise your hands if you're familiar with AuctionFire.  No hands raised?  It has 70,000 users.  Raise your hands if your friends or family members are familiar with LiveDeal.  No hands raised again?  It has 1 million unique monthly visitors.

Over the last several weeks, I’ve been on several phone pitches from west-coast companies that are looking to be the “flickr of XXXX” or “like del.icio.us but YYYY” or “the Digg killer”.  It got me thinking – how many people outside of the valley have ever heard of these companies?  I asked a bunch of local (Philly-area) acquaintances and the answer came back loud and clear: none – nada - zip.  People here have barely heard of Myspace and Craigslist – let alone any of the “hot” Web 2.0 companies.

If we could get access to the usage logs of the top 10 Web 2.0 properties, I would bet that their 10,000 most active users would all be the same.

For the past few months, whenever I talk to someone about a Web 2.0 application and hear that they already have “10,000 users”, I’ve been telling that them the first 25,000 users are irrelevant...

Unfortunately, many entrepreneurs (and many VCs) confused one time “tryout users” with real sustainable users...

6 days after opening and there aren't any questions on the WP bidding/buying board .  That's a good sign isn't it--the buyers must be too busy buying to post!

If I were starting out a brand spanking new auction site, I'd prefer to have sellers list. 

More than one or two test items . . . to wait and see what's gonna happen.

Put some sort of QC on the bulk lister access like eBay does, if you must.  (But that would mean actually verifying members and he doesn't do that, either.)

Unless I am missing something... a person has to REMEMBER where they posted to go back and look for an answer.  That I could accept, but all the white and tons of scrolling isn't good.  I was told to maximize my screen.  Maybe I'm being an asp, but if that is the ONLY site that requires it... shouldn't they change it to whatever the "norm" is?
