Even the WP Power Sellers Unite master is tossing his pompoms with less enthusiasm, as are some other current and past cheerleaders who are afraid to say anything on the WP boards due to the "Zero Tolerance" policy. The general feeling among many of the posters to this new forum (as I interpret it), is that WP right now is a very boring place to be -- the shine is dulling from Eve's apple.
The censorship by Karen was a fatal mistake. The posts that painted WP in a unflattering manner may have cost a them a few stores, but it would also give the cheerleaders a chance to rally in support of WP. Instead WP is losing the forum community feel that kept many sellers there despite having slow sales.
I couldn't agree more. Resorting to this type of control indicates major internal issues, and creates resentment among the ranks, which is why I ended my last post with: The fact that CURRENT as well as X-poppers are having to create a separate, undergound forum AT ALL to discuss issues relating to their businesses indicates real cracks in the foundation of the company they represent. Any time a regime, business, organization, country has to build walls (be they brick and mortar, ideological, or built through threats and intimidation), to keep its members from ESCAPING, it's only a matter of time before the gates are stormed. While die-hard cheerleaders are still spamming Auctiva and poo-pooing TT for being a bunch of "biased" rebel-rousers whose intent is to "get back" at WP through put-downs and insults as a strategy to pursuade members to purchase TT's services, others are lurking TT, and reading the thread, which can only serve to discredit the cheerleaders. The clock is ticking. If eBay chooses NOT to institute another fee hike after the first of the year, WP will surely boil down to a drained, listless, residue of cheerleaders who hang on simply because they have been baked into the amalgom of the pot. |

Quote:I almost feel like I'm betraying them by posting what I say there on this board. But I know in my heart that it is with good intentions and not malicious ones. I think everyone posting on this thread has good intentions but some of us are just (way) more frustrated (or is it annoyed) when we see a situation like Wagglepop because we've seen the same cycle repeat itself every time there is an eBay seller protest: 1) eBay pisses off sellers and a mini-revolt develops, 2) bullsh*t artist auction site owner spams forums preying on sellers' heated emotions and cons sellers into joining his "future eBay" (and in the process prevents them from exploring real alternatives), 3) the reality that the site owner is a liar and there are no buyers soon sets in, 4) the disillusioned shell shocked sellers return to eBay (falsely) believing that eBay is the only place where they can make a living selling online. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Absolutely, Amy! I am as guilty as anybody, and after the first of the year I'm hoping to get my own site started, assuming someone as cyber-retarded as myself can figure how to do it. If there were a magic wand I could use to create my own site with all the SEO stuff and whatever else I would need to make a living outside of eBay, I'd go for it this very instant. It sickens me that eBay has such a strangle-hold on my business, but from what I've been able to discern through reading posts here and elsewhere, it's pretty much the only show in town for the kind of business I have. So, I'm just going to have to bite the bullet for the time being, and I'm sure I'm not alone.
I almost feel like I'm betraying them by posting what I say there on this board. But I know in my heart that it is with good intentions and not malicious ones. I am not trying to get them to leave WP to hurt Ray but to keep the people I know from getting hurt. I hope that makes sense!! ???
Platzki, I can truly understand what you're saying, and I think most everybody here feels similarly. Chiquita, Sweet Girl and I have spoken about this many times. It makes us crazy to see folks get taken for a ride who don't deserve it. And for those who were around when WP1 hit the skids, it must be ever more frustrating so see this boinktard pull the same wombat poo-poo all over again to another group of innocent victims -- like watching a train wreck from the sidelines, with no way of stopping it. To bastardize an old adage, "You can fool some of the Poppers all of the time, all of the Poppers some of the time, but not all of the Poppers all of the time." And for that reason alone, the clock is ticking on RayCo. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Found this on PSU forum while poking around this morning. Looks like Karay's third largest store considered bailing 6 weeks ago.
http://powersellersunite.com/viewtopic.php?t=7599&highlight=wagglepop Quote:I want to move my store from wagglepop due to their lack of anything going on. Does anyone recommend a good place. Thank you much, Smile. A poster responded further down: Quote:I agree with xxxxx 100%! There isnt ONE alternative.. If your doing the auction thing I suggest using multiple sites. There are enough free ones out there.. Beware of places that charge fees, especially upfront fees.. You will have to drive your own traffic to your place and for many of us, that it isnt an option due to time constraints.. If you are going to drive your own traffic, it might as well be to your own website.. FVFs are okay and I would recommend a site that charges those over monthly fees any day because you know they are trying to attract buyers and not just sellers who pay monthly... Its all about diversity and branching out.. PSU also supports questions related to having your own site so that is definitely something any serious online ecommerce person should check into.. Good Luck... Bolding mine. Excellent advice representing the hole in WP's dike! Geez if Arcane and Chainman both left the active listings count would quadruple with Karay's math!

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Just catching up here, Platzki your post was perfect, you spoke from the heart, and didn't make anyone feel bad for still being on WP. It is very tough to know that the place you have put so much time into isn't what it appears to be, or was promised to be. Then you say well where else can I go, what do I do? As long as they know there are other alternatives even if you simply use the free sites for customer aquisition, and Ebay, you can begin to develop and create your own website.
Eventually the goal is to drive the majority of your traffic to the website. It is being done very successfully by many former ebay sellers. To completely rely on any venue anymore is a bad business decision. To be completely independent you need your own site. To put it very simply, consider the amount of marketing, money, time, and research the poppers have already done to promote WP. If they put that same plan into action to promote their own website, the payoff would be much greater than what they are getting for all that work now. As long as Ray charges upfront for his services he has zero motivation to do any advertising of the site. He has a guaranteed income every month, which is something the sellers most certainly don't have. : |

Fab,
Your approach on Bric's new forum is perfect, tasteful. You encourage them to think instead of using a tough love approach that would only get their backs up in defense. Keep up the gentle nudging. I've signed up too but haven't posted yet. Like others here I was quite surprised to read of the doubts these stalwarts have expressed in the omnipotent Wagglepoop.
