Some new bits from WP

Quote:It has been one month since AdSmart was introduced, the people that are using it, can you tell a difference in traffic / sales?

Thanks for you input.

Good question! Smile

Quote:I will not put anymore money into it because I read on a message board off WP that for fun they have been clicking on the adds just to waste the sellers money. Seems some people have nothing better to do with their time and energy then be spitefull and nasty.

Hmmm, where did they read that?  Icon_scratch

Quote:I have noticed an increase of traffic to my stores. Contrary to what ***** has posted, I have not had anyone clicking on my ads to waste my money. This concern was brought up when AdSmart was introduced. This activity will not be allowed by Wagglepop staff.

Seems to like it, but doesn't mention any increase in sales.  Icon_scratch

Bolded as it was originally posted
Quote:AdSmart is a very advanced tool with the direct ability to differentiate between normal click through behavior and malicious intent or behavior.

As such, it accurately reflects actual targeted traffic.

As an aside, any attempts at malicious behavior are sent directly to Account Protection & Security and then referred to legal counsel for prosecution where applicable.

Interference with the commerce of another company (particularly online) has some extremely serious civil and criminal implications with local, state, and in some cases federal jurisdictions.

Further, online fraud and identity theft or impersonation has similar harsh legal implications attached.

We have several open cases using IP tracking in cooperation with ISPs to collect evidence to be used in prosecuting the offender(s). Those who may think they have been operating anonymously have not; rather, the hole they are digging is getting deeper with solid, trackable, and traceable evidence.

The legal consequences may be severe.

We will use the full force of the laws that exist at every level of the U.S. judicial system to protect our enterprise in every way possible.

Maybe I'm way off base, but from where I'm sitting - here we go with the paranoia again. Sounds like KaRay isn't the only one afflicted. Speaking for myself, I have MUCH better things to do with my time than click on their precious little ads and/or try to interfere with anyone's business. Read the forums for a good chuckle? Sure. But seriously, my time is a bit more valuable than that and I imagine the same goes for most, if not all, of us here. It's amazing to see the paranoid delusions seeping down into the rest of the 'camp'. Guess it was only a matter of time.

BTW ~ there is medication for that.

Edited to add:

Quote:AdSmart is a very advanced tool

I can't believe I missed that part. Advanced as in bulk listing excel spreadsheet advanced?

Let's think about this.

(A) Why post this on their own site's Store Seller's Forum? Are sellers doing these horrible things? Clicking on each others' banners to exhaust each others' AdSmart accounts? What would be their motivation? Pump each others' page views as encouragement while putting fellow sellers further in the hole financially? Oh, so you're telling me it's not the Kumbayatic sellers, it's dastardly deeds from outside the inner WP sanctum. And for what reason? To pump up the numbers on the page views for sellers? How would that support the infiltrators' claims that WP gets no traffic? That makes no sense, either. The only ones who would benefit from bogus clicking is KaRay, since AdSmart words are (1) purchased directly from WP (a source of income for KaRay), and (2) energetic clicking is good fudge for page view statistics. It shows Poppers that the AdSmart program really works -- look at all those page views, so better buy some more, Poppers.

(B) Since when would a post of this be considered polite, constructive and respectful? Does it not violate its own posting policy? I think KaRay should pull this negative post at once! After all, WP sellers are a dancing bunch of wonderful, prayerful, smiling faces who would never consider doing such a thing. Is this not insulting to them?

Quote:As an aside, any attempts at malicious behavior are sent directly to Account Protection & Security and then referred to legal counsel for prosecution where applicable.
I'm sure this makes sellers feel so much safer, coming from a site that was supposedly shut down the first time around for security breach. I'm sure Poppers can sleep soundly now. And why post this on the forum anyway? If there are "offenders" out there, should not the "legal counsel" be contacting them instead of staff posting rants on the forum board?

(D)
Quote:Interference with the commerce of another company (particularly online) has some extremely serious civil and criminal implications with local, state, and in some cases federal jurisdictions.
Remember this, KaRay, the next time you delete personal messages and contact seller's buyers without prior notification or authorization and consent from the parties involved.

(E)
Quote:online fraud and identity theft or impersonation has similar harsh legal implications attached
What is this statement doing on a topic about AdSmart clicks? Anybody in the universe can click on a seller's banner. How does AdSmart know if the click is from Jo Blow or Jo Blow's nom de plume? And why would it care?

I suspect KaRay is feeling a bit defensive right now. Energetic AdSmart clicks can only truly benefit one person. Before Poppers can figure this out, KaRay thought it best to post the above as a diversionary tactic (the best defense is a good offense) and send over emmissaries to TT, like PS, to troll for information and keep us busy and put us on the defense before WE could figure it out.

Good try, KaRay, but no cigar.

Edited to correct a typo. P.S. I've never clicked on one of those ads, and I seriously doubt few, if anybody, on this thread has.

First of all, they can't prove that people are clicking ads with bad intentions... Secondly, I've never clicked on even one of those ads and most certainly wouldn't do so just to drain someones account... I truly believe that no one would or should.

But I can't help the mental picture...

Picture a court room... Ray is sitting in the witness chair with his pink bathrobe and fuzzy slippers.  His hair is in curlers and his eyes are red-rimmed because he was up all night crying... someone has been clicking on his ads and by God he was going to find out who it was and put them away or good!  Slowly the jury walks in and takes their seats.  The judge motions to Rays attorney to begin his questioning.  Ray says that someone has been clicking on the WP ads... It's not him so it must be the TT'ers and he was going to prove it once and for all!

The gallery is full of poppers with signs... "Up with WP" and "GO RAY!"

Tulip Toolers are also present with banners and signs... "You suck Ray!" and my personal favorite "Ray Blows Goats!"  Ray cries as he presents his case to the jury, his lawyer handing him scented floral tissues and patting his shoulder to comfort him.

"They just click, click, click all day long and they make fun of my outfits!" Ray sobbed to the jury.  Suddenly Ray looks up and asks the judge "Do you like my outfit?"

SUDDENLY and without warning the gallery performs the WAVE with precise form and perfect timing!!!!!

Groupwave Groupwave Groupwave Groupwave Groupwave Groupwave Groupwave  Groupwave

Ray bursts into tears as the opposing counsel approaches the bench... he has a few questions of his own...

Stay tuned to the never ending saga and be sure to tune in next time for the cross examination!!

Platzki you crack me up!

I think once again this is a case of the poppers not reading properly.
I think they misinterpreted a couple of the posts here that said "clickety click" to mean some of us were clicking on the ads...when in reality we were making fun of Ray sitting there in his pink bathrobe and fuzzy slippers clicking on the ads himself to generate revenue.

One of them made the same statement about us over at the Mini Mall forum a few days ago.   :Smile

Edited to add:

I notice Karen didn't mention anything at all about refunding or crediting any poppers accounts for fraudulent clicks.

edited again because after my second cup of coffee...I realized I put the wrong name in (Kaboing should have been Platzki).

I would not be surprised if Ray was doing the clicking.  Although, its more likely other sellers since they are the only ones that know about Wagglepop.

I have never clicked on anyone's ad nor would I. I even pointed out that there had been abuse of PPC ads on google, in which google lost a lawsuit and implemented restrictions on PPC to protect advertisers.
Clicks on PPC ads often don't result in sales. In fact PPC takes quite a bit of research to utilize the tool properly, and keep in mind we are talking out in the big universe of the internet, and not placing ads within WP.
Adsmart is not an advanced tool poppers, Ray paid 99.00 for the software, so big whoop. Whip2
