I've signed up on ecrater, too, until I can really get my business off the ground.  I have the store on hold right now - while I tweak it some more.  I'm comfortable with Google checkout and I feel more secure than with PayPal.

Quote:Just to clarify something here.....Karen is NOT the one that made that statement, it was another seller. I went back and reread where it was posted earlier in the thread. The confusion was cleared up on page 227 of this thread. Post #'s 3403 and 3404 were the clarification posts.

I don't want the cheerleaders from PopLand that lurk here pointing fingers and saying we mis-quote them.

Why, do I keep thinking this was Karen? Sorry, about that. I do specifically recall Karen jumping in on this thread and talking about this comment as an "opportunity" to fill a need, blah, blah. So, WHO ACTUALLY SAID THIS? Does anybody know?

I totally agree with Rsmythe about using an auction venue as a marketing and acquisition tool, I just haven't figured out yet how to do it and which venues would be the best, since I'm too retaded to set up my own stand-alone site, nor have the time, patience and finances.

Someone please tell me about google checkout... I just signed up with ecrater... I thought I would give them a trial run with a few items and I am trying to set up a google checkout account but it's asking me for my SS# and a credit card #... am I safe entering this info??
[/quote]

You're safe giving Google your SS#, bank info, etc.  We gave it to them when we were beta testers in March and so far we've been OK.

Thanks Amy and FineThings...

I guess my concern is... I am anal (OK who's surprised about that? Happy001) about my business finances and don't like surprise charges showing up on my statements... are they asking me for my CC# to verify my identity or ar they asking so they can charge me for something??

Thanks!!

If I remember correctly, it's just a verification thing where they charge like a $1.00 but then it's never REALLY charged.  Did that make sense?  LOL  I'm working on an ecrater store too and I've been fighting a logo all morning trying to get it right, so I'm not thinking very clearly right now.  :blinkie:

Yep, its just a verification. My card has never been charged and I've been signed up w/ them for months. It's similar to the AdWords verification. They authorize a charge but let it expire so it never actually posts to your account.

Canadian something or other (can't remember the whole name at the moment) was the poster who wrote that if I remember correctly.

The front page count  has been the same for a few days but the total on the "catlisting" page is dropping. Yesterday 117.6K, today "115783 items found"

OMG...they almost had a buyer!

Quote:SirBuysAlot  24 Nov 2006 02:53

I wanted an XBox 360 with the memory. When I typed in X Box 360 a model train car came up. Is there a special way to search here?

wagglepopCC1  24 Nov 2006 03:10

SirBuysAlot,

As there appear to be no XBox 360's available currently, the following listing was the closest match for your keyword query:

N ~ MTL ~ Minnesota State Box Car ~ 21360 ~ NIB

Under normal circumstances, a better solution might be to browse to the Video Games category first, and either browse or search by keyword from there Smile

Karen - WP Customer Care

What are "normal" circumstances?  When I am in a hurry, I just type what I want in the search and narrow it down from there.  Geez, telling a potential buyer how to shop is totally unprofessional.  Get a clue, Karen/Ray.
:poopbanaana:

This is the original quote from KaRay about the xbox, telling the buyer to browse the category and then keyword search, what a  Boinktard thing to tell a buyer!
Good bye all
Enjoy your freedom
Use it well

eCrater is very cool.

I advise anyone who is thinking of doing a website to set up an eCrater store. There's no rule saying you can't have an eCrater home AND a website.  Smile

Some of the ex-WPers were kicking around the idea of a website or another venue, but didn't know where to start. eCrater is FREE. And easy. And indexed on Froogle. You can build one with no investment other than time.

Ecrater is really great. The fact it offers google pay is just another bonus. The boards are very helpful for tech support, but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy. All my items I have sold were most likely found on froogle. My ecrater items were placing higher than ebay. I remember my first sale, and the total fees were 72 cents, and that was for paypal. It was great.

Ecrater really feels like your own website, and is motivating to get you going on your own site.
Good luck to all of you who are now signing up, and ongoing good wishes to those of you who already have a store.

Thanks Banana girl!!  I'm just finding that eCrater is so different to set up... I gave up for today and will get back to it on Tuesday after the holiday and after the drugs wear off!!   Happy001 Happy001 Happy001 Happy001  JUST KIDDING!!!!!

As of Tuesday, I am quitting my job since my boss has her head up her happy-land and I just want to drive a spike thru her head!!  LOL  So I'm going to be back to the online grind FULL TIME and really would like to be vested in more than just eBay.

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions and gave your opinions on eCrater!  I love my little  Tool people!!! Happy001
