ok a few questions what is the Karma and how does it mover up? How do you change your mood? says post 20 does that mean I have posted 20 times? what is view inventory ? and the big one Send Money to YYNA?

1.  Karma is meaningless.  You can give it by using good post/bad post links

Karma (on this board) is something you can get or lose. Certain people can give karma (good) or take karma away (bad) if you're being bad. LOL. It's really just for fun.

How do you change your mood?

On the top of the page, click on profile. Then click in the small second box on "Forum Profile Information." Scroll down until you see "mood" and you can change the mood from the drop down menu box.

From eBay thread, an explanation given by the second largest and now ex-WP book seller:

I just recently closed my store there. I sold about 160 books on WP in 6 months, with over 3000 listings. It was $9.95/mo for that many items, compared to $45/mo here (at the old rates - I closed my store here early last year...) FVF was much lower there - around $1 - $3/ month there.

So, no complaints about sales/ but no raves either.

What I did not like was how the buyer/seller community kept growing smaller instead of bigger - after a meteoric rise for the first 5 months. There was a drop from a high of over 900 stores to the current level of just over 420. And the numbers have not increased in the last 3 weeks.

The owner feels that advertising is the responsibility of the sellers. I contended that the owner should be doing the advertising, as that was what we were paying for. We parted ways when I started a thread that pointed out that the owner was selling us a cause instead of customers. Thread was pulled. I closed my store.

   

Two more sport card sellers are now gone taking a total of 2,000 listings with them. Bric and some of her mall supporters are also gone and a couple of others are preparing to leave. They are each down to one listing.  But the off-site mall is still active. As wpssu have done, the tone of the mini mall is changing.

As has been pointed out, it is truly amazing that the listing total on the home page is not affected.

Phone verification is not going over very well in Popland if the public posts are any indication. CC1 however claims that many personal emails of support have been received. So if poppers are taking the time to convey this to KaRay personally - why aren't they taking the time to lend this same support on the thread?  I'm confused.  :-\

I would like to assure everyone that the new registration is faster, better, and just as easy as the "old" registration process

We have always required that all applicants supply a valid telephone number as a part of the registration process, and the instant verification is a newer but commonly used method of validation all across the internet.

To verify that contact number is simply common sense, and the process takes about 5-7 seconds in total.

Phone verification is a technology specifically designed for use with credit cards to combat fraud and identity theft, or as a means of validation, and our consultant for design of the new system strongly recommeded it as paramount to the new registration specifications or for any similar online enterprise in the 2007 environment.

An additional component of the new system is a geolocation module that verifies the exact location of the applicant before the application can proceed.

Both the phone and location verification components are absolutely "cutting edge" technology, and with them, we are a bit ahead of many existing companies in our efforts to combat fraud in all it's forms.

This new system has cut fraudulent registrations, NPB's, and scammer activity by almost 100% since implementation.

Valuable hours have been freed up for staff as a result, and keeps our focus where it should be; on the site and the needs of membership, not chasing down cheats and fakes.

We have had multiple emails from membership applauding the change as a tangible measure of our commitment to build and keep a community built on trust and honesty.

It's simply not tolerable for us to stand by and do nothing as we find out someone in Russia registered with false information including a fake telephone number, phantom bid on 20 items, then spammed everyone looking for money.

There is an auction site that does allow that, but it will not be us.

As an aside, registrations have tripled since the implementation, and we are extremely proud and happy to be able to implement this new system, and in doing so, create and protect our membership body as one of honesty and respect for each other and the User Agreement.

99% of applications for membership are from good an honest people, and for them, registration is as easy as it has ever been

Now to comment on specifics of this post. This new system has cut fraudulent registrations, NPB's, and scammer activity by almost 100% since implementation.  Wasn't it just implemented yesterday? Already CC1 can quote this as a stat? So can we safely assume there has been no scammer or NPB attempt to infiltrate WP in the last 24 hours?  What a milestone!!

As an aside, registrations have tripled since the implementation. There's that miraculous 24 hour cure again! But I haven't detected Poppers jumping at the chance to start a thread of victory or celebration (you know, do the Whoo-hoo dance) with this reported increase. Guess the tripled traffic was just passing through and not buying ...  :imptongue:
