PS - I know you do well on WP and I applaud you for your efforts there.  I just cannot for the life of me understand why you want to pay someone (I, personally, think is a bipolar crook - my opinion only) money that could stay in your pocket.

Your products are unique and you have found a lucrative niche.  Take that and use it to put more money into YOUR pockets.  I know you do as well or better on other venues.

It's called a crusade. The subjects of a kingdom used to answer the call to battle when the king demanded their services. They faithfully carried the flag and rode under the king's banner despite the strength of the enemy meeting them head on. All for a cause they were convinced was just.

In this case, the enemy is identified as us. But some of the faithful do not know, do not realize or will not accept that their greatest contender resides within themselves. Until one day...

It is their decision.  I get it.  I'm also learning more every day how I can't say the honest truth to anyone unless it's exactly what they want they want to hear.  Words seem to be pointless and a waste of time and energy, so I'll continue to lean more toward supporting venues with actions rather than words.  I wish it didn't have to be that way, but it seems like it does.

Wow! I cannot read this anymore without speaking my mind. PS you really need a wake up call! Can't you see what people on this thread are trying to do for you? You are actually getting compliments on the products you sell and they are trying to open your eyes. You PM'd me here when you saw that I was closing my WP store. Why? You bought some things from my store on WP and there was one other seller on WP who also bought from me (I am not sure if she is even still there). I actually had a very high feedback on WP because of the two of you. I tried to get my ebay buyers to come over to WP and only two out of I don't even know how many, came, shopped once and then never came back.  I had to wonder why? Same customer service, shipped quickly, packaged professionally? Where did I go wrong? (They are now buying from me on eCrater! Go Figure?)

Well I found out it wasn't me! WP was not a buyer friendly site. To confusing to get signed up and then even more difficult to finish a transaction. I had more non paying buyers on WP then actual sales. What was that about? Someone actually out bid YOU on a video and then never paid? I have been selling on ebay for 7 years and this has only happened to me once. WP started to smell really bad.

You would think that on an online selling venue where adults are conducting business there would not be such extream censoring of  a forum. How sickening! Life is not all cotton candy, puppies and roses! Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Perhaps you can pass this on.  It is a total turn off to go on to a message board and see Hugs, Love, Kisses and NO REALITY!

When I fell upon TT I was still standing behind WP. I was so shocked and angry at the things I read. How could these people be so rude and mean? I, like you thought they had an agenda..............


Guess what......I was right..... they wanted to help me become a better online seller. They wanted to reach out and show me other alternatives. They were not belittling me, they just wanted to show me a better way! They were not against me as a seller, but just trying to protect me!

PS it is time for you to realize that you are on a sinking ship. I moved my items from WP to eCrater and have made all and then some of the money I lost on my WP store back. If you are making the sales that you proclaim you are on WP just imagine what you could do on a site with traffic!

Hello,
I just joined a few days ago, and have been researching this site as a possible location for an online store. I sell atomic & Eames era furniture, which is a fairly high end market. Since this is the “Advanced Selling” board, I assume this is the correct place to post this. I really could care less about who wins American Idol, because it doesn’t affect my business either way. A serious, dedicated seller doesn’t want to sort through the fluff to find the answer to a question or problem.
I have emailed a few sellers, and asked some questions. Some were very upbeat and some were unsure of the future of this venue. I have also spent a lot of time reading the boards, and the rest of the Community section.
Here’s what I have discovered so far:
There is very little communication from the site owner. The latest one that I saw was January 2007, and I also noticed that there has been no “Revolution Newsletter” since then. With a site this size, I would think the owner would be very “hands-on”, and not distance himself from the sellers.
A 6 month advertising budget of $75k was mentioned in that newsletter. It is nearly June, and from what I see from traffic stats, site usage is down. A POP3 (spam email) campaign is very cheap, but also very ineffective. Personally, any spam mail that manages to get through my filters, gets deleted without opening. There are just too many viruses out there.
The basic store price of $9.95 would be reasonable, if the traffic was there. I’m not even talking about actual sales, but just raw traffic. An item will never sell if nobody knows it’s there. It seems that management is very “Get-Sellers” oriented, but leaves the “Get-Buyers” program mostly to the sellers. So really, what do you get for your $9.95 per month, besides a free-to-anyone google/froogle upload?
A recent post noted the invoicing system, which nobody seems to be thrilled with. There were several mentions of this on various board posts. The inability to revise and re-issue an invoice appears to be the biggest problem.
Finally, the one thing that really stands out is this; an older post mentioned that there were once over 900 active stores. I had to double-check the current number to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. That in itself tells me one thing, loud and clear.
I look forward to an open and honest dialog with sellers and management alike. I even read in one thread that several posts were deleted from this forum. I’m not sure what that was all about, but I certainly hope it wasn’t because management didn’t want to address serious business related questions and issues. If that’s the case, this post will go away, and I will have received the answer to my biggest question.

PS - I wish WP felt the same as you. Can you buy them out? I think the sellers at WP deserve to have someone who is honest, straight forward and wanting to build it for the sellers.

PS - Regardless if this above quote was made from a Naysayer or an actual new member, does it really matter? What other place would ever deleate something so quickly?

You ask us to understand honesty, but that is an example of what some REAL sellers had happen to them. It is a sellers board. A place to gripe and complain.

Can you not see how quick they are to look & deleate at the "Advanced Sellers Board" but complain to be too busy to check others?

With a staff of at least what, 4, don't you ever ask yourself why there has been no changes to the site?

Why Karen is the only one who answers and posts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and can respond almost instantly to a post that may need some "defending" and then some "give the sellers a little bit of something to make them happy again?"

Example - Here is a board for Items Wanted, but if you go into the policies, they clearly state there is to be no thread or post of items wanted.

Then, never so much as respond to all the people who asked if they could have it at a more appropriate place.

Even say with 300 sellers, what do you think 4 people are really doing behind the scenes at this website?

Basically people, even the ones who have been there for a long time are finding the atmosphere sad. Hardly anyone posts and it is not due to they are too busy having sales.

I have been on both sides of customer service for years. When one runs a company, you are not expected to do everything your public tells you, but you listen and try to improve what you can.

Like you said, support venues with action. People would like to see some action and good customer service, not constant defense.

Is that not enough for those who do not yet participate?

I'm not sure what more we could do, although we ask ourselves the question every day and have been unable to figure out any substantive answer.

Tons of people have given them ideas. Does that quote sound like someone who is willing to do more?

I know you always try to make your posts with honesty, we may not always see everything as you do but I do see the honesty.

Can you not see some of the honesty some of these people here are speaking about?
