Knockoff is a definite possibility--that seller is selling unlocked BlackBerry Bold 9000's for $300 on Backpage (and was selling them for the same price on AtomicMall before the listings were removed). The phones were just released and are in short supply--the cheapest wholesale quote I received from my suppliers last week for unlocked models was $680. Unlocked ones are retailing for $750-$900 (except on PlunderKnockoffsHere where a scammer is selling fakes for $300)

Not coincidentlly, the new store owner, "A.K.A. Knockoff Cell Phones R Us" is not registered in the US but in UK, even though the "supposed" request for a Western Union transfer shows an origination at some location in Chicago. Appears this seller also has a "Pro Store" with 6 items. Although there are links to "Policies", "Customer Service" and "About Us" pages on his Pro Store, those pages do not exist.

Ray's eBay store's customer list: 2,227 customers (all buyers)
AtomicMall 2,208 customers (mostly sellers)

Umm, if an "eBay alternative" can't even beat Ray's little eBay store...

Has this seller been paying $30/mo for a store that's been closed since June? Oh, and BTW, this seller is neighbors with Uneeksam (Silver Charm Liquidators/Just Sam Designs), who just disappeared from Showcase and has been "reconstructing" for the past two months.

More conundrums:

How can one of the biggest cheerleaders (and Founding Member), Tam2Win1 (Berning's Bargains) possibly justify a WP Showcase store at $69.99/mo when she only shows evidence of having $17.44 in gross sales on WP in the past 30 days?

The other major cheerleader, our friend PS, shows $46.97 in gross sales since August. Doesn't cover the storee fees, but at least she's no longer throwing her money away on a store upgrade.

And then we have PS's West Coast neighbor, FMG. Member since May 2007 and the highest lister, who has consistently maintained 1/4-1/3 of the total WP listing count but has YET to show evidence of selling a single floormat. Not to worry, though. Since July of 2007 (that's 16 MONTHS!), he has managed to sell $6.54 worth of auto mits to the same buyer. Can't say that would cover the $240 he's "supposedly" paid in store fees since then, but with the "best SEO on the planet" and all the warm fuzzies he gets from PS, who cares! Right?

Addendum: WP's owner, Ray, is actually doing better on his eBay store (with half the store fees he charges his WP sellers) than his biggest cheerleaders are doing on WP. In the past 1-1/2 months, he's managed to sell two items. But then, Ray fleeces his sellers to the tune of about $2400/mo for doing absolutely nothing, so anything he sells in his eBay store is gravy. Baaaaaaaaaaaaa! Violent1

Unless, of course, one of the WP "Council" member/cheerleaders is getting his/her palm greased by a kickback hamster in New York for clandestinely operating WP from a remote location on the West Coast.
