Re: Did they finally bite it? Bidville site down since 2 pm
The main server is up because I just pinged it from this server and got a response so the servers are still plugged into an electrical outlet at iLand where they're colocated.
The site isn't responding to any http requests though. My guess is they screwed up badly during the final migration to the Oracle DB and are trying to fix it... ...although since their customer service staff and board moderators have been MIA for about 11 days and haven't responded to any customer problems during that time, who knows...

BidVille Back Up and A Family Portrait
The site is back up.
Just In case they do "Bite it" some day, here's a family portrait for memories sake: Carnaby (over 3 million listings when closed abruptly around New Year's 2003): http://web.archive.org/web/2002112213044...rnaby.com/ Carnaby's Tech Team aka BidChaser (only 30,000 listings but the design is an almost exact copy of Carnaby) http://www.bidchaser.com Carnaby's Management Team aka BidVille (1.5 million listings or 3 million depending on who you listen to) http://web.archive.org/web/2004113003262...ville.com/ |

Why would they attempt some type of upgrade if they didn't know what they were doing? But then again... I've seen better run auction sites too. did anyone ever find out who bought Moo?

did anyone ever find out who bought Moo? [/quote] No, they're using domain by proxy for their whois records so there's no way to tell who the owner is. I'm wondering if they were even sold though because mad-cows is still using the moostores.com nameservers which are supposedly now owned by the new mootalk/moostores/mootropolis owners. The mootalk/moostores whois records also don't show any updates occuring should have occured if there was a change in ownership.

Re: Did they finally bite it? Bidville site down since 2 pm
Sorry for getting a bit off topic. Bidville has several bad things going for it... No one looks at your items ... period... unless you you continuously post on the messege boards there. I had items up for over 6 months... nothing, not the first hit. I even tried the stores and paid for a traffic generator. None of my store or auction items ever appeared in google, while the same items at bid-alot were. Bidville is so full of scams and scam bidders, that hardly any sellers will sell to anyone who doesn't have feedback. So.. its therefore a "good ol' boy's" club. You have to be part of the clicque. And I realize the sellers had to do this for their own protection. Bidville has no verification or security in place. If you get caught being a scammer, just change email addy's, and you are in again. Supposedly Bidville logs you're IP, but I truely doubt it. Because the scammers are just too rampant there. And since Bidville only refunds FVF as FVF, they are making a lot of money from sellers in the form that's only slightly less then out and out stealing. With the right management, bidville might have done something.
When I clicked on moostores from alexa toolbar, I'm redirected to Pro stores by ebay.
