eBay UK this morning announcing it will remove eBay Shops items from its main search. In addition, shops listing fees will rise to £0.03-£0.11 (approx. US$0.06-$0.20) and some FVF fees will be increased to 10%.

Well, so much for moving a store to the UK site. Not too much benefit in that.

Man, I gotta say that this is one well-written letter ...... we got old Bill Cobb who is "troubled" by stores, Meg is rambling on about diluting magic and restoring the JOY of eBay, and the UK gets an in-depth letter that is still wrong-headed, but with a heckuva lot less condescending attitude and it actually appears to have been penned by a real, live thinking adult. Notice how the word "holistic" isn't mentioned once?

Re: eBay UK Shop Sellers Get Reamed! Twice!: Store Items Outta Search! Fees Soar!
Why would anyone willingly pay $0.20 plus a high FVF to list an item that will be hidden from buyers?

Auctionbytes article on the reaction by UK and Australian sellers to eBay's fee hikes.
Quote:An Australian seller said of Wednesday's announcements, "The rationale for the hikes does not make sense. They are raising fees because they flooded the site by displaying all store listings along side auction listings. They are now removing the store listings from the basic display - but upping the fees for store listings! .... Surely the consequences of this should have been obvious...." http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/m07/i21/s01 related topic: eBay Australia Stores get screwed too! Less exposure! "people who need Shops most are people whose goods wouldn't sell anywhere else"
This post was emailed to me. eBay employee "Richard" posting to eBay UK sellers on eBay's "Business Selling Forum". Rather insulting comments to one seller by Richard. The thread was pulled soon afterwards - perhaps because Richard told sellers to sell in multiple channels?

Sign-in with eBay ID and password. It will give you an error message, but just go to their discussion board home page and then click on Business Seller's board. You can gain access that way. They have a thread going there too about SIS being returned to their site on Wednesday.
