Good point Amy. I wonder if the search companies will go for that. Perhaps they will simply decide not to index those pages.

They went for the duplicate content in Express--Express has 4.5M pages indexed in Google

It's too bad that they don't learn to say NO to ebay. :Smile

One thing is for certain in my mind.
What we have been saying all along is true.
eBay is desperate and has been loosing buyers obviously at a much more alarming rate than they would have the world believe.

Why else would the feel the NEED to Spam the search engines with ebay stuff?

I mean if ebay is as popular as they would have us all think.
There would be no need to do this or even pay for CPC ads.
People would just "naturally" go there because... Well..
eBay is number one right?  Laughing7

See what I'm saying?

I think people are avoiding ebay any more for online purchases.  Thumbsup

Yes I do, brother!

Does anyone have the data that was published a while back with the internet's biggest PPC spenders?  I can't remember the source.

I seem to recall ebay as number one... not surprising... but the gap between ebay and the next biggest spender was HUGE... in the tens of millions, if I remember correctly.

Now why, pray tell, would a presumed "household word" need such a massive internet advertising budget?  I can even understand other media outlets like TV/Radio... at least those patrons may not "know" what is available at ebay.  But internet advertising?  I think it stands to reason that if you're online, and have a working monitor and an operational mouse-clicking finger, you know ALL ABOUT ebay!

I've admitted, right here in this forum, that I buy on ebay.  :-[  But I tell ya what... when I'm searching Google, Y! or MSN for products, I get sick to bloody death of all the ebay spam that pops up for every stinkin' keyword phrase.  BangHead  That's beside the point of the question... why does ebay need such huge advertising and search engine exposure?  Answer?  Because just as XPP said, ebay KNOWS the buyers are leaving.  What other answer is there?

Well, not ALL keywords.  They seem to have stopped buying ads for keywords like pedophiles, child porn, hookers, etc.  (Yes I've checked before LOL and complained about that)

They still pick a few real winners that inspire trust though.

Hell, I once found my own Ebay ID supposedly for sale on Ebay, according to their Google sponsored link.  Angryfire
