Quote:The only reason he is out is because the dems are in. Even generals wanted him gone. Bush said oh no, Rummy is doing a great job. Too true. Quote:I am watching Bush live now. He is a HUGE bore, lol! Quote:Maybe Rumsfeld can join Cheney's next hunting party. |

Bush Lied to Reporters Last Week When He Said He Would Retain Rumsfeld
In his news conference today, Pres. Bush inadvertently admitted that he lied to reporters last week when he said that he planned to retain Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Vice President Cheney through the end of his term:

Re: Donald Rumsfeld is OUT//Resigned!!
I heard that. Amazing the stuff he has gotten away with.
And to think that Clinton was impeached for an "indiscretion". : |

Re: Donald Rumsfeld is OUT//Resigned!!
Clinton was impeached for lying to a grand jury. Something any lawyer would know better than doing. It could have gotten nastier if he had lost his law license over lying to a grand jury - which has happened to less influential lawyers.
Republicans lost because conservatives didn't know who to vote for anymore. Case in point would be my husband and I - both hard-core conservatives. However, we voted for an independent for the governor of Texas - not the incumbent Republican. We couldn't vote for a man that claimed he was a Republican, but in action was anything but. The republicans were trying to appeal to both sides of the aisle - and instead they couldn't appeal to either. Liberals won because they appealed to their voting base. They didn't try to straddle the aisle - they appealed to those who traditionally vote for them. |

What he lied about is what I was referring to. And, frankly, he should not have been in front of the grand jury or impeached, Imo. And I don't agree with you re the remainder of your suppositions, either. People voted for the Dems because they are quite simply sick and tired of the Republican dogma.Bush is a total asphole and his admin has sucked from day 1. I hope you don't take offense to this ---it is just my opinion. |

Re: Donald Rumsfeld is OUT//Resigned!!
Now how come your's is an opinion, and mine is a supposition?
Mine was an opinion too - that's the nice thing about this country, everybody is entitled to one We (my husband and I) weren't voting against Bush on Tuesday, we were voting out incumbents. The Republicans lost seats. A number of those seats were lost because the Republicans were not acting like Republicans. You probably don't see that - because I doubt that you've ever voted Republican. But, for people like my husband and I - who vote Republican frequently - to not vote for a Republican says alot. We were just tired of our party taking us for granted, and trying to woo Democrats (which will never happen anyways). Edited to add: Our incumbents were talking out of both sides of their mouth for the last two years - more worried about being re-elected than what they could accomplish in their present term. We were sick of it. |

Re: Donald Rumsfeld is OUT//Resigned!!
I browse a little over there - but it's always been a little too busy for my tastes. Never sure which areas to read - kinda like OTWA. I've also been fairly busy with getting back to school (insert headache smiley here).
Sorry to hear you got bashed . . . you didn't instigate, did you |
