All the years I've spent on the internet, and I didn't even know gemm existed. Wow!!!! They have more music items than I have ever seen anywhere. I'll definitely have to give them a try.

I was just browsing through and the competition looks brutal. I just glanced at a couple of record dealers and they both had over 150,000 listings.
That makes my lowly little 20,000 seem like nothing. I'm still totally amazed that a site like that exists. |
It's been around since 1995. re referral: we're not signed up for their affiliate program (at least I don't think we are) Gemm can process credit card payments for you (like Amazon and Half do) or you can handle buyers' payments yourself. Caiman_com (casacaiman on eBay) have close to 2 million items in their Amazon zShop.

Part 3 of Auctionbyte's interview with Randy Smythe:
Quote:AB: So you're saying the biggest challenges are fees in conjunction with less visibility in Stores, and the idea that sellers have no way to differentiate themselves because feedback isn't doing the job it's supposed to do, and basically bad sellers can appear to be the equivalent of a good seller? There's just no way to differentiate yourself, and Trust & Safety is not really - you don't know what they're doing. Are they ineffective, would you say? full article, part 3 of the interview: http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/m10/i04/s02 Part 1 http://auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y06/m09/i29/s01. Well, if eBay wasn't angry at me before they certainly are now. Unfortunately, I often sound a little wound up in these interviews.
If someone could help me out with something. I read on the stores board that the sponsored links are no longer showing up. I've done a few searches and that seems to be the case. Have any of you noticed anything? I'll check back this afternoon. Have a great day! Randy |

I haven't noticed anything about sponsored links. I never pay attention to them and I've never clicked on one. One thing I did notice on the SB this morning (I tried to stay away) was how many bigtime sellers are now coming out of the woodwork to express their dissatisfaction and dismay over search, sales, etc. I don't remember that being the case in the past. They were usually too busy selling and shipping to take time out to post on the boards. They're coming into the holiday season now and they must be sweating bullets.
The sponsored adverts are in the testing phase. An eBay user's notes from the eBay.com Town Hall meeting: Quote:Paid search results, testing results at low level, reason-part of job is to try to get people to return to Ebay. Exit on null search is high. Revenue from Yahoo is small. Want to satisfy buyers request so they will return. If they find something even off site, they will return knowing they can find anything on Ebay. No decisions yet on what to do.http://forums.ebay.com/db2/thread.jspa?m...2003953363&forumID=21&x#2003953363 |

Apparently they are back. The person keeping track of them says she could see them again for the search "NW Skirt".
I couldn't pull them up on my searches today so I guess I'm not in the test group anymore. I do remember last week when i was getting them, and it wasn't just in null result searches. It was in every single search. If the search didn't have any relevant clickable ads someone else said they would get click ads for freebies. (that person was checking some postcard listings because I had thought the ads weren't showing in collectibles). |

Randy, another possible reason for Ebay banning you from the boards could be so they can point out to the media and stock holders that your interviews and postings are all the result of a disgruntled ex seller who has been banned from Ebay.
