Quote:I think that 50% increase in sales figure is a bit exaggerated though.  There is an increase in sales from seals but I think it is much lower than 50%.
Quote:Valleygirl and Maggie have both Truste and BBB seals.

I'm not a Truste member. I use BBB, HackerSafe, BizRate, Verified by Visa, MasterCard SecureCode, and Thawte SSL seals.  I'd estimate the seals increased my sales by 10%-15% max.

ScanAlert claims HackerSafe certification increases conversions by 14.2%.

I don't think so.  I use Volusion SSL (rebranded Comodo).

Re: Techniques Ecommerce Sites Can Use to Gain Consumer Trust
Quote:Seals do help in the "trust" department which is why some UNETHICAL site owners go so far as to put fake seals on their sites (until they get caught).  I know one moron who in the past 2 years has been busted for fake Truste, HackerSafe, and Thawte seals on his site.

Do they help inspire trust when some boinktard copies a seal with a date and it's May 26th everyday of the year on said boinktard's site? Observe the Hacker Safe seal on this PSU member's site: http://www.haiwin-necktie.com/
