Should Digg be included in Google search results

2 opposing viewpoints on whether Digg listings should be included in Google search results:

I just do not understand why Digg shows up in searches on Google. Don't get me wrong. I think Digg is a good service and provides many sites with a good bit of traffic. For example, TechCrunch reported that 80% of the traffic to the site comes from Digg. (reported by Arrington in September 2006)

So why does Digg have better search results than the sites themselves in some cases? Because Digg has a higher rank within the Google system. But if you look at Digg, from a true standpoint, what does it really offer? It offers a link to the actual story, a 1-2 line overview of the story and sometimes comments from Digg users...

This raises another question… Should Digg.com and other human maintained directories (social bookmarking sites in particular) start to really push and develop their search feature(s) to be a viable alternative to the existing search engine giants such as Google and Yahoo? I’ll leave that one for another blog post...

IMO, no. Nor should other social networking sites. When I search, I don't want to see results that require extra steps in order to access the info. It is annoying, damn it!

The original source should be given more weight in search results.  As it is now, Technorati's link to my blog places higher than my blog. :blinkie:
