Quote:You use CardServices too? We've never had any problems with them or had any customers who couldn't pay because their site was down--unlike PayPal and its frequent breakdowns. |

Re: Well I finally did it
Thanks Amy. I've never heard any complaints either and unfortunatly that is what we all seem to do anymore is look for the bad.
So not seeing or hearing of any bad about Cardservices Intl. Is a GOOD thing. :

Re: Well I finally did it
Quote:If I go to a website and they only accept PayPal, I often think they aren't a "real" business or may be less then ethical. That is JUST my point of view and it may suck... but it is my thoughts. Wink Not mine. Being a seller who does not want to pay the 'high fees' of a merchant account right now, I sympathize with all sellers who use paypal. As a buyer, I certainly don't mind using it, as it's just another gateway for purchasing with a CC. Sellers use it because there are no monthly fees, and it's familiar for ebayers, who are also web site surfers. And for those buyers who hate paypal, they, of course, have now entered the MA field with incognito software. The problem with paypal, of course, is that sellers can live with a certain amount of angst 24/7 regarding their account's viability, which is a grossly huge negative. Being an occasional seller only, right now, I don't have any choice but to accept paypal for all types of electronic payments. Like xpp, sofar, sogood. No probs. If I were doing big-time sales, I'd be outa there for sure! |

Re: Well I finally did it
Quote:and it's familiar for ebayers, who are also web site surfers ...but its not familiar to many web site surfers who aren't eBayers. We get a lot of first time online auction buyers on Overstock who are familiar with credit cards but clueless about Paypal...and on Yahoo we seem to get a lot of buyers who are familiar with PayPal but have been burned on a transaction involving PayPal in the past and refuse to touch it ever again (the usual reason is a seller ripped them off and PayPal was no help). PayPal is good for eBay, but if you're going to be selling full time on a web site you'll probably lose a lot of potential sales and have many abandoned shopping carts if the only payment method you offer is PayPal. Re: Well I finally did it
Wanna guess what's next on the list after closing my eBay store down on Saturday?
Yep, already started looking for merchant accounts. The fact that PayPal is owned by eBay is enough for me. What would possibly make me think they take security any more seriously than eBay does. No way do I want them to continue to have control over my $$ or my financial information. Thanks for the link! Beth |

Re: Well I finally did it
Well I might have spoke too soon.
I need some help please . And I thought I was a web wizard of sorts. As you all know, I just opened an account with Cardsrevices Intl. And linkpoint (the gateway) in the last few days. Been working over the weekend setting up a cart at Mals and playing with some forms. I signed up for the premiere account there for cart hosting and did the configure thing for linkpoint. seeing as my hosting package does NOT support cgi nore do I want to get into all the back end stuff too deep. Any way, I think the cart looks nice, functions fine, but when I test it and when it gets to the linkpoint server it states: It is not possible to order from the store at this time. Contact the merchant for further information (error 1002). Anyone have an example of a form that will work? Do I need to do a Submission Form URL from Mals to my Connect Settings at linkpoint? If so what is that URL please. Anyone using CServ. Intl. please just show me a page and throw me a bone. I can customize but I'm obviously missing something. I know that at linkpoint I need to submit my URLs (forms) to configure LinkPoint Connect. I did this simple form below as a test: (bypassing Mals) straight from my site. http://tlcwoodworks.com/orders/sample.htm and it lets me get into the system to beging process an order. A few others I tried DID not work as it seems the Linkpoint bot don't like some of the form feilds I would need to use. You know things like shipping amount, item name / number. Discounts for quantites. Stuff like that. :-) But the ones I want to use like this example below: http://tlcwoodworks.com/orders/169.htm Dont work. Try it and see. It comes up in a cart and lets you add quantites, and do everything up to PAY at linkpoint. I do have to say one thing for paypal. They sure made it easy. I had no idea that I would need a secure server to host my own cart or even put a logo up to customize my pages at linkpoint if I wanted to keep my customer happy, safe and secure. Anyway: Any help would be greatly appreciated. Im one of those guys who hates to ask for directions and Ive been pouring over the 360 some odd liknpoint connect manual pages, (which was no help at all) and all the faq's and help I could find at Mal's. which was some help but still pretty vauge. Thanks in advance to anyone who uses the services and wouldnt mind helping me out a bit. Please Please Please . I'm really over here.

Re: Well I finally did it
I'll look at the documentation and see if I can figure it out. :-[
We've always used Linkpoint API and for that you do need an SSL certificate. You don't need one for Linkpoint Connect though.

Re: Well I finally did it
Did you try using Linkpoint API instead of Linkpoint Connect with Mals? It looks Mals uses API not Connect.

Re: Well I finally did it
Come to think of it using the API makes since.
Seems like I read that API is for those using their own back end data (shopping cart and such), so I guess using Mal's carts and Secure Server would translate as if I was doing the same thing on my own secure server. I'll be that is what it is. I'm going to give it a try and if that don't work I'm going to e mail Mal's too and get someone at Linkpoint to help. (I hope). This is a whole new area for me but with your help guys and gals, I know I can do it. I actually think Im not far off just been looking in the wrong place for info. Thanks again you two. I'll try a few different configs and see what happens. One way or the other, the darn thing has to work. I was starting to think that due to their migration from Burbank, that something was up, but I know it is just something simple I'm missing. Thanks again. Amy & BBH anything in the documentation may help and maybe I missed it because I may have been looking in the wrong pdf files / manuals. I need to be focusing on the Linkpoint API capabilities and set up I'll bet. Makes since now.
