Nah, I really wouldn't... especially with a site that would freely share all it's member's data over an unsecured server with anyone who owned a domain and downloaded the script.

Every script is unique to the site owner who downloads it and all registrations are tied to the individual site. All users are ring-fenced from all other sites in the Kaqoo Network and do not have access to records of any users who have not registered at their site. Kaqoo do have access to all users records from every site as we state in the T&C's. Please download a copy of the software, we provide a free version you can download, you will not see any members on your site except your own. I hope this clears one of your concerns. All you had to do was ask, we are always available to answer any questions. |

Re: Sneaky's Alternative Auction Site Sales (GMV - Gross Merchandise Value) Guid
Shared databases among "thousands" of site owners only causes problems. I am sure you are skilled to setup the site's network, but there are always many, many more that know a lot more with a database that is shared among "thousands" of sites.
And thanks for the offer to try it out, but I wouldn't try any software on a server where someone may actually register on an unsecured connection. And, from what I see from the download, there really isn't a way to ensure the login and registration pages are SSL enabled. I'd honestly feel better about using the $99 Rscript and advertise (spam) on PSU for sellers.

Quote:I hope this clears one of your concerns. My main concern is that Kaqoo, like most of the sites I see advertised on PSU, has fewer daily sales than I do...and I don't consider myself a large seller. 27 daily items sold rules the site out as a viable alternative for full-time sellers. Quote:Today Kaqoo has 28741 items for sale and we have sold 27 items. Kaqoo also sell items! We have real buyers and sellers. |

21-Month Old Security Hole in Kaqoo Auction Software

The security advisory was issued March 30, 2007. What excuse could you possibly have for failing to patch the hole and putting your users' information at risk for 21 months? http://secunia.com/advisories/24696/ Quote:Critical: Highly critical |

Overstock Auctions proves again that PSU's auction site count chart (and basing decisions on site counts) is worthless!
Quote:Auction gross merchandise volume was $4,435,000 for the quarter compared to $3,183,000 in the fourth quarter of 2007. However, auction gross merchandise volume for the full year 2008 was $11,540,000 compared to $14,259,000 in 2007 http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y09/m02/i02/s03

I get 1 unique visitor for every 2 items on each site I have. Bonanzle gets 1 unique visitor for every 6 items (1.1 million items, 170,000 uniques.) On further research, eBid receives 1 unique for every 18 items for sale. Atomic Mall receives 1 unique for every 2 items for sale. http://siteanalytics.compete.com/atomicm...?metric=uv This makes AM look great until seeing that 440,000 visit the auctions.overstock.com subdomain, but there are only about 20,000 auctions. For each auction there are 22 unique visitors. That's a real alternative to eBay.

Quote:there are only about 20,000 auctions. ...and yet those 20,000 listings generated $11.5 million in GMV while the 130,000 combined on Plunder ASs didn't even generate $100K. Quote:That's a real alternative to eBay. Overstock's retail store ($800 million plus revenues compared to the Auction tab's $11 million) is an even better alternative for sellers who qualify. You need to signup through Channel Advisor to list on the retail side. http://www.channeladvisor.com/overstock/ |
