Overnight Auctions is for sale on Webidz but don't tell the members!
Overnite Auctions, an "eBay alternative" auction site that receives barely 1,000 unique visitors per month (source: Compete.com) but has long been promoted on PSU, and was given its own subforum on PSU by PSU's mods who at one time were active cheerleaders for the site despite it having under 600 listings and even fewer buyers,  is for sale on auction site Webidz.  Opening bid $150, Buy it Now $15,000.  The site has had several "relaunches" and extended periods of downtime during its 3 years existence which forced members to start anew each time.

http://www.webidz.com/HIGHLY-Established...on_details

From the listing:

item description Wrote:We have not yet discussed this sale with our members, so all
negotiation should remain confidential.

Confusedtolensmiley:

terms of sale Wrote:A link to our company
www.seekpcrepair.com> will have to remain
at the bottom of the site.

Confusedtolensmiley:

A post on an obscure pale blue colored forum provides some background on the current site owner.  The "Kevin" referred to in the post is the site owner and "Tracey" was the site's (non owner) President/designated PSU spammer.:
Quote:I wanted to ask Kevin if one of the requirements to get involved in helping out was to have good credit so he could leave them over $20,000.00 in debt like he did Tracey.

Yes folks that is what happened to her and if she won't talk about it I will.  All the time she was supposedly a part of the site she was being used for her credit. When she cut off the credit cards and phones that were in her name he called her berating and belittling her and now has started a new company in Idaho and is now looking for new victims.

Some good advice from that same post, although the part about buyers is irrelevant because these sites don't have buyers:
Quote:It seems like a pattern of start up auctions to use the people who have faith in them and discard them when they are of no further use.  Maybe it is time that sellers and buyers discard those sites.

Overnight's new big spender** owners have been very successful* with their overnightauctions.net site so they decided to spend $75 for a copy of the Makebid Shopping Mall script and start a new site www.overnightshops.com.  The new site is growing by leaps and bounds: 8 registered users, 22 listings.  To make room for the new site they closed their RScript auction site overnightauctions.com and turned it into a parking lot.

*definition of success via Compete Confusedtolensmiley:
OvernightAuctions.com 1,882 monthly visitors
OvernightAuctions.net 1,088
OvernightShops.com (too few to measure)

*alternative definition of success Confusedtolensmiley:
OvernightAuctions.com 126 registered users

**definition of big spenders :Smile
1 copy of PHP Pro Bid $165
1 copy of RScript $99 (used until recently on the now closed overnightauctions.com)
1 Copy of Makebid Mall $75

Hilarious, sneakymagenta.

"...MIKE AND I OWN OVERNIGHT AUCTIONS. We acquired it legally and fully in Sept. 2008 from the previous owner (Kevin) and have maintained it ourselves ever since. WE OWN IT COMPLETELY"

Soooo....what happened? If you're maintaining your site and own it completely, how does it get away? Is it magic? Does it, like, seep off of the server or something?! Rinkydink world is creepy.
