Quote:A week before the closing my wife expressed concerns about my work habits

It's kind of hard to believe that a man would say this.  Do you know what my answer to my spouse is when he "expresses concerns" on a semi-regular basis?  Well it varies, but it never affects my customers.  It may mean that I hire out certain things, etc, but it simply never harms my customer base.

Jason, it looks as if history will repeat itself with your family and work practices. Running an auction site takes a lot of hard work. I know how many hours Jim puts in. Labor of love? Yes! Hobbist, No! I know how hard I work with a job in the physical world, doing live help support, and keeping my listings up, let alone attempting new listings. I'm sure that Todd and Amy are also stressed for alone time also with all their auctions, this board, and researching other sites and reports.  Trust me on this... wives with children don't like to be ignored or taken for granted.

(thanks Todd)

Re: Boinktard of the Week Award: Bidzig.com Plans to Reopen
This board(and one email) is the only negative response I've seen/heard about about me re-opening the site. I came on here to talk about it. I've been called names in this thread, and frankly arguing on a public message board is a waste of time. I put my email up so if anyone wanted to talk to me one on one then they could. I've recieved 48 total emails back, with one negative. A 97.9% POSITIVE response, not TOTAL response.  Comparing bidzig to a large corporation is funny in itself. A noted hobby site compared to a multi million dollar company. Ethics are NOT the same.

I'm glad that I got to hear your side of things, but really all credibility went out the window with the first post and the name calling. I'm going to go concentrate on my relaunch, and perhaps one day you guys will decide to check out the site. If not then good luck in your adventures, and god speed.

Jason

The only one? You sure about that? Then you haven't looked very hard.

Jason, you don't seem to understand. When you closed like you did, you hurt ALL alternative sites. I do live help support at Bid-alot and we are far from being a multi million dollar, we have tried to promote ourselves on the boards, as You and others have. We have been blasted. We fight nearly daily because of the unethical practices of site owners like yourself.  Go ahead and open, no one can stop you if that is your wish, and I wish you all the success you deserve.
but really all credibility went out the window with the first post
I'll agree that your credibility went out of the window with your first post on FAS on January 21st spamming the board for your new site.  If it didn't go out then it went out 4 days after that with with the very bigoted comment you made about BidMonkey's former owner (a Canadian who immigrated from Hong Kong) when you said "I read a few of his threads, and his english is way off. Not saying this is a bad thing, but it's a little weird that his theads look JUST like those "emails" you get." .  As I recall when I made a comment about your bigoted remark your replies showed that you were unable to handle criticism very well...apparently nothing has changed since then which is a pity because as an auction site owner you will need a much thicker skin for when problems arise (and the criticism/name calling you have received on this thread is mild to what the owners/CEOs of large auction sites like eBay or Overstock receive on a daily basis from their users)

When you closed your site just 2 months later any credibility you had as an auction site owner ended.  When you lied about deleting your user's accounts your credibility as a person who could or should be trusted with users' personal information "went out the window" permanently.

You will be competing in a multi-billion dollar industry. Several of your competitors who your site will be compared against and be competing with for users are large corporations, therefore the only thing funny is that you as an auction site owner are apparently unaware of who your competition will be.

Ethics aren't dependent on company size or revenues.  Ethics ARE the same everywhere.

for old times sake:

Bidzig on March 2nd at FAS posting in the Wagglepop forum again Wrote:I love my Ziggies, and to be honest I'm having a blast just gabbing it up in the forums.

...BTW did you ever make Ray a second offer for the wagglepop.com domain name after he rejected your initial $1000 offer?  He loved his "Poppers" and liked gabbing it up in the forums too, and he also had no problem shutting down his site abruptly thereby screwing over his "loved" users . No wonder you wanted that name... Wink

Post regurgitated  from the past because I haven't read anything yet on this thread to indicate that the second time around will be any different than the first, or to indicate that the end result won't be the same if times get tough.

"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.
best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011

Wow, a boinktard. That sounds harsh
Wow, that's pretty harsh.

Frankly, I'm not sure Wagglepop is what you are looking for.

I've lurked on a few chat boards that have been discussing this Boinktard, and NONE of them are saying much that is favorable.
Seems people are pretttttty ticked off that he said (lied) that he deleted everything and then turned around and e-mailed them recently.

This graph might put some perspective on matters and explain why the excitement level is so low at the news of this site's reopening.  From the looks of the traffic graph, even at ZigBid's peak the action a punter received by listing was less than stellar.

Will the reopening be cancelled if an eBay fee revolt fails to materialize in January?
