Shopping Comparison Site PriceGrabber.com Offers Free Storefronts.
Shopping comparison site PriceGrabber.com was bought recently by Experian (the credit report company) for $485 million.  The site has over 18 million buyers.

They are now offering free storefronts on their site: no listing fees; $1 + 4.75% FVF on sold items, bulk loader available)

Quote:Selling with Storefronts

PriceGrabber Storefronts is a service that lets sellers list and sell merchandise without the need to have their own web site. When you buy from a PriceGrabber Storefronts seller, you are not redirected to the seller's web site. You just place your order with the seller within the PriceGrabber web site. Please note that you are not buying from PriceGrabber. You are just placing your order through PriceGrabber.com. PriceGrabber then passes your transaction information to the seller with whom you purchased.

PriceGrabber Storefronts is a service designed to help sellers without their own web site or to help sellers that would rather pay commission only if their merchandise sells rather than a Cost Per Click (CPC) to send traffic to their own web site. Please read the section below or the How to Sell FAQ for more information, including fees and how to list your items.

Fees

There are no set-up or listing fees. Sellers only pay a commission ($1 + 4.75% of the purchase price) after a product is sold. For more details regarding fees, please read our Fees and Billing Policy.

Review of PriceGrabber.com Free Storefronts
Auctionbytes has a review of PriceGrabber's free storefronts:

Quote:Selling on PriceGrabber
Here's a quick rundown on how PriceGrabber stacks up:

    * Fees. PriceGrabber doesn't charge any listing or setup fees. When you sell something, you pay $1 plus 5.75 percent of the purchase price. "The Purchase Price is the price for which you sell the item, including shipping and handling charges. Sales tax will not be considered as part of the Purchase Price when calculating the Transaction Fees." http://www.pricegrabber.com/info_policie...cy=billing
    * Range of products. You can only sell items that fall into the following ten categories: Computers, Photography, Software, Electronics, Video Games, Movies, Music, Books, Toys and Office.
Quote:Selling on PriceGrabber
It's quite easy to list an item: you can use a stock photo provided by PriceGrabber; you set your price; you describe the condition; your listing is online in a matter of minutes.

It's worth noting, though, that PriceGrabber doesn't give you a "storefront" in the sense that eBay does. An online storefront is supposed to have a front door, a name, and an identity. You get the ability to create all of those things with eBay Stores, but not with PriceGrabber. It's the proverbial tradeoff.

Bumping because PriceGrabber was mentioned in another thread.  Tongue

Quote:Range of products. You can only sell items that fall into the following ten categories: Computers, Photography, Software, Electronics, Video Games, Movies, Music, Books, Toys and Office.

PriceGrabber has expanded the list of categories since that article was published.

"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.
best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011

PriceGrabber to become exclusive comparison shopping partner for AOL Shopping
From an email sent to PriceGrabber merchants:

Quote:PriceGrabber.com is proud to announce a strategic partnership with AOL. PriceGrabber will become the exclusive comparison shopping partner for AOL Shopping, providing an extensive catalog of thousands of merchants and millions of products. PriceGrabber merchant partners will benefit from a marked increase in already highly qualified traffic and placement on one of the world’s premier Internet destinations. We expect this increase in traffic to have a positive effect on partner ROI and continue to illustrate our value proposition to all partners. Building and strengthening our respected distribution network is yet another way we are able to continue to be the most trusted, innovative, and effective comparison shopping service. PriceGrabber’s position as AOL’s exclusive comparison shopping partner truly indicates the leadership position we have taken in the landscape of Internet shopping. We are very excited for the launch of our AOL partnership and know that this strategic alliance will create a significant increase in demand for our merchant offers.

Re: Shopping Comparison Site PriceGrabber.com Offers Free Storefronts.
1 year after signing up I finally got around to listing an item.   Big Grin

Listing is a pain in the ass. Setting up payment methods is a bigger pain in the ass.  The site supposedly supports Authorize.net but I received error messages when trying to add my account (I tried all 3 of my Authorize.net accounts). I finally gave up and decided to just accept PayPal and GoogleCheckout.

EDIT: MagneticOne has a ZenCart feed mod that supports listing on PriceGrabber storefronts.

Pricegrabber has increased the Final Sales Fee twice since this thread started.  The new rates:

Quote:Purchase Price Base Commission Rate* Period*
Any $1.50 + 6.75% of Purchase Price Non-Holiday
Any $1.85 + 8.5% of Purchase Price Holiday

* Holiday commission rates will be in effect 11/1 - 1/15

The Purchase Price is the price for which you sell the item, including shipping and handling charges. Sales tax will not be considered as part of the Purchase Price when calculating the Transaction Fees.

Additional fees:
Quote:Refund Charges

Refunds of Transactions Fees by PriceGrabber for out of stock and mutually agreed cancellations will be subject to a PriceGrabber refund charge of $2.50.

It's still less than Amazon's 8%-15% FSF fees.

Today's discoveries while listing  Smile

1. Pg Storefronts apparently has buyers.  I noticed one seller today who has sold over 10,000 items out of his Pg Storefront in the past 12 months--with an average ASP of over $70 that's over $700,000 (translation for eBay alternative auction site users: that one seller's Pg sales are about 8X the yearly GMV of sorry ass eBay clone Plunderhere)

2. Pg listings also appear on MSN Shopping, AOL Shopping, and PCWorld
