Yesterday I decided to have a look see how the Ad Smart campaign is doing. Who's still throwing their money away on it. I made a rather interesting discovery and I'd be interested to learn if anyone else here found the same. Through Browse I clicked on Books. I checked fiction and Children's. I'm sure my fellow TTers will agree that I'm pretty familiar with all the store names on WP. But some of the AdSmart banners I saw were names I've never seen. Names such as: THE ONLINE SOURCE VINTAGE SCI-FI SOURCE BEST BOOKS ONLINE GALACTICA GALORE INFANT EMPORIUM QUANTUM LEAP COLLECTIBLES COLLINWOOD COLLECTIBLES SCI-FI COLLECTORS HAVEN So I clicked on these and others I found in different categories. Let me clarify that I did not click on any banner to a store I know exists. I invite you all to repeat this process, look for these names, click and report where you ended up. I'm sure you will be as surprised as I was. If you don't see any of these names the first time you reach the ads, just keep refreshing your page until you do. [/quote] Oh yeah! I'm Surprised!

Quote: I wouldn't trust Ray with my CC info. NO WAY! Ray's track record: Quote:Both buyers and sellers are required to enter credit card information in order to register for Wagglepop. Over the weekend, someone registered using a false number, and was able to place malicious bids on hundreds of items without paying for them, leaving a string of negs for the sellers in his wake. Romeo said Wagglepop uses Authorize.net for credit card validation and merely had to adjust a couple of settings. Quote:Some users also noticed that when they signed in to the site and checked their billing information, they could view their credit card numbers, instead of having the first twelve numbers masked. "We know it needs addressing," Romeo said, but added that users should use unique passwords on the Internet and should never share them. http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m02/i15/s01 Quote:In the meantime, sellers are left without access to their records and wondering about the security of their credit card and personal information. Without access to the site to review the User Agreement, it's uncertain what recourse they have. http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y05/m02/i23/s01 |

Let's see, I saw Meows n Barks, Did you even carry books?? Love how those fake links go off WP!! New motto should be if you are looking for something on Wagglepop you can find it at Ebay, because you sure will not find it here!! |

That is hysterical Sherry! I went a step further and directly typed in the "store" names: http://www.wagglepop.com/stores/THE-ONLINE-SOURCE None exist (which we already knew). Nope no ghost stores or fudging the numbers there. Signed, XXX

Thanks for the responses. I just wanted it to be clear that I'm not the only one seeing these links redirected to eBay. A lot of the categories have these fake Ad Smart banners. I also checked eBay and none of these are stores on there either. This is the funniest one I've found yet. It's under Toys & Hobbies, Action Figures:
Quote:Classic Hot Wheels & Matchbox! And this one under Entertainment & Memorabilia: Quote:NO ONE SHOPS HERE!

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I got an idea If it's OK for Ray to have ghost stores and fake AdSmart links, why doesn't somebody open an Ebay store on WP. Just call it MyEbayStore and stock with an item or two.
Homepage: "Welcome to my MyEbayStore, where you find thousands of items to fit your needs at unbeatable prices. We strive to provide the best customer service on the net and go that "extra mile" by being your personal shopper. No matter what you're looking for, you'll find it in MyEbayStore. Thanks for coming to MyEbayStore. Before you leave, be sure to check ALL my great listings in MyEbayStore. And don't forget to tell your friends about MyEbayStore. No purchase is to large or too small at MyEbayStore. Have a great day. Hope to see you again soon at MyEbayStore." |

If any real customers stumbled in, by accident I'm sure, I wonder what they'd think of those ads! Ray, your tactics are getting more bizarre by the day! :turkey2: |
