I think we should all put together a list of WP's substantiated unethical (possibly illegal, in some states) business practices for all to see. My list starts like this:

** Staff encouraging members to jeopardize their credit ratings by opening up second PayPal accounts when the first has been frozen (illegal and against PayPal policy), simply for the purposes of paying a WP invoice.

** Staff deleting personal messages between sellers and their buyers or potential buyers without knowledge by either or their permission.

** Staff contacting sellers' buyers or potential buyers without sellers' and their contacts' knowledge or permission.

** Staff encouraging sellers to spam other venues as a means of marketing.

** Staff sending invoices and threatening collection letters after an account has been closed and there is no money owing.

** Staff threatening collection procedings without due process.

** Staff discussing the status of individual member's accounts in a public forum.

FEEL FREE TO ADD whatever comes to mind.

Awesome Wagglefact!  Has anyone noticed (besides me) that the Farewell Thread is not being used?  I may be taking a leap here, but it seems to me that doors are being slammed shut and former poppers have nothing nice or constructive to say..... Happy001

I am not at all surprised that the PayPal thread was deleted.  KaRay thinks if no one can see it, it never existed.  I hope that someone from PayPal manages to see it since it was recorded for posterity.

Oh, I see that I have karma, too.  Thank you.

I'm lazy this morning so I'll just say...Ditto!  8)

Of course PayPal is just about as bad as Ray, so if they do see it they'll just gleefully freeze the seller's account(s) and hold his money for 3 months before they kick him out for good.

Why doesn't WP offer an alternative payment method?

I figure Ray lost his merchant account privileges over the WP1 credit card fiasco.  He doesn't want to accept any payments in the mail so they can't get him for mail fraud.  Right now the worst that could happen is they limit/freeze his PayPal account, but so what!  He'll just open a new one!  He's covered his bases well...or so he thinks.  :twistedevil:

Heck, even the Nigerian scammers offer more than one form of payment.  Happy001

Never argue with an idiot they drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

Staff says store is closed, yet seller items are still available on website

Staff does not prorate fees

Staff fudges numbers for inclusion on auction sites
I hate stupid people!

Prediction: By the end of December 125 more stores will close. Why? That number is about half of the stores with 50 items or less. They will take the 2006 tax deduction as a loss and call it good.

That's a very good possibility.  I think I counted 218 stores the other day with 20 items or less.  There's no way they could ever make a profit.  Oh but I forgot!  Listing is FREE!!! and making a profit is just typical eBay thinking.   *tsk tsk* What was I thinking! :Smile

I am still blown away by the showcase store that has only 4 items.  They had 5 items for several months.  What a money drainer.

Dontknow

I've heard of loss-leaders and I use them myself quite frequently, but that is ridiculous! :blinkie:
