I want to help clarify some points around eBay My World which is in the process of releasing (http://myworld.ebay.com). First - My World will not be replacing About Me pages! ME pages are going to remain a very important part of our users' identities and continue to provide the freedom to design with html, customize, etc.

My World is an enhanced user-ID page that dynamically updates based on your activity on the site. If you are a store owner, you'll have a store module; if you write reviews and guides, you'll be able to feature your newest content; and so on. Your My World page is intended to allow you to showcase your feedback, your listings, your personality, and your content on eBay.

For now, eBay My World is accessible at http://myworld.ebay.com and every users will have his/her own My World page at http://myworld.ebay.com/user-id. You can access it now and begin customizing by visiting http://myworld.ebay.com and pressing "Get Started". In late October, your My World page will become the landing page of your user ID (your feedback number will continue to link to the feedback page).

Of course - if you have an About Me page, your icon will appear on your My World! More information, including an Announcement Board post, will be coming in the next couple days. Thanks!

Pinkie Ryan, you had better not just be blowing smoke. For very personal reasons involving a dear friend of mine, Me pages had better STAY PUT or I will be blasting the boards till they NARU me.

Um that is WHAT the Me page is supposed to do.

If eBay SAY's they aren't doing something,
you can bet that is exactly what they intend.
I'm with others on this.
It WILL replace the ME page so as to further RESTRICT FREE trade that
currently (at least) allows us to link to
our sites via the Me page according to policy.

I'd bet REAL $$$ on this one.

Ryan claims the me pages aren't going anywhere, but as ebay's desperation level increases, I can easily see losing the ability to a) link off ebay anywhere on the ebay and b) contact with other ebay'ers using private email systems. 

Truth be known, however... Steph and I were rather disappointed when we first opened our web store... very few of our regular ebay buyers came over and purchased anything.  With the exception of several international customers, and just one or two domestic customers, most of our ebay customers have vanished in the wind.  We did get one comment from a 5 year ebay regular that pretty much sums up 99% of ebay shoppers... "Love your web site!  But boy, are the prices high!"

ALL are extremely slow.... EXTREMELY slow!  No surfer is going to wait that long for a page to open.
