The membership requirements have changed:
Quote:The IMA is open to all ebay platinum and titanium power sellers. We also accept members who are not platinum or titanium power sellers but it is generally understood that sellers applying for membership who are not platinum or titanium power sellers will meet all of the below minimum requirements, however if you don't qualify based on the requirements but feel you can to add to this group feel free to apply for membership anyway as all applications are brought forth to the membership committee for review. http://groups.ebay.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1500014238&categoryID=1500001299&redirected=1

Recap of the Internet Merchants Association Conference
Auctionbytes coverage of the IMA Conference:
Quote:Aside from sore feet, writer's cramp from jotting down all the pearls we heard, and lighter wallets (the show was in Vegas, after all), we left with the following key thoughts: Quote:Turns out that 95 percent of eBay sellers differentiate themselves from other sellers based on pricing, noted Marketwork's Paul Lundy. "This is not sustainable." eBay sellers must find other ways to distinguish themselves from their competition. Think of how Target competes with Walmart, Paul advised. It doesn't compete on price but on variety and quality instead. full article: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m03/i05/s04 |

Quote:Turns out that 95 percent of eBay sellers differentiate themselves from other sellers based on pricing, noted Marketwork's Paul Lundy. "This is not sustainable." eBay sellers must find other ways to distinguish themselves from their competition. Duh. When the majority of sellers try to differentiate themselves on pricing eventually prices are driven so low that nobody can make a profit...as has happened in a few eBay categories.

Quote:Amazon is attracting a great number of eBay sellers, with perhaps 65 percent of IMA attendees saying they now sell on the site. Gary Richardson of gogglesandglasses has found that his ASPs are higher on Amazon (than on eBay) I joined Amazon when I was in Vegas. :turkey1:

Better late than never, Ina at Auctionbytes raises the same questions that this thread raised in 2006:
Quote:PESA was formed initially as the eBay Elite, though it registered with the state of New Hampshire as "E-Commerce Merchants Alliance Inc." Those records have never even been updated, and there is no organization in the state corporation database known as Professional Ebay Sellers Alliance. full article: http://blog.auctionbytes.com/cgi-bin/blo...20798.html |

Quote:full article: http://blog.auctionbytes.com/cgi-bin/blo...20798.html For the record, this IMA member isn't participating in the IMA (which is an actual non profit) vs PeSA mudslinging battle on that link. ;D

Quote:For the record, this IMA member isn't participating in the IMA (which is an actual non profit) vs PeSA mudslinging battle on that link. Grin PESA is looking sick on that link. Especially since the PESA members who are posting are idiots, and seem to have no concern for the ethics or lack thereof involved. Pretty funny. |
