I have a really low opinion (or threshold) of some of the people who
are posting on ebay's boards now and still seem to be hanging on to ebay...
Thinking somehow it is all going to turn around.


Way to much  serving going on these days over there.


The reason is because every time some of them post all their happy happy
BS on ebay's boards (or more excuses why sales are slow right now there)...

Three new suckers / lurkers  fall for it.

Sooo...does this mean it might not be a good long term strategy if you follow the advice of UC Berkeley Professor Morgan ( http://community.tuliptools.com/index.ph...849.0.html ) to start your auctions out at reallllllly low prices and jack up the shipping prices?

That strategy stopped working sometime in 2003/early 2004.  The bidding wars that made 1 cent auctions work just aren't there any more and the volume sellers who cling to the past are all in trouble 

Pompous Boy was thinking about leaving eBay before eBay cut fees in 2/05.  I just read an article from 2002 in which Pompous Boy said he needed to sell his items at $5-$6 to cover overhead and turn a profit--average selling prices on eBay have fallen since then and the 2 cuts in eBay fees on under $0.99 items probably don't equal the increase in overhead since 2002.

Ethical's Extender Tool was the only thing that kept GlacierBay on eBay--you can bet that the loss of the competitive advantage given by that tool when AuctionSage/Vendio introduced similar tools  played a part in GB's decision to finally pull the plug.

I don't envy anyone who plays the volume game on eBay in 2006--one small mistake and you're a goner.

I don't envy anyone who still uses ebay at all as a soul source of income in 2006.
That would also apply to 2005, 2004 and up to about mid 2003 for many as well.

Why put yourself through the stress of worrying about pennies when you can get MUCH higher margins selling off eBay?  :  ...of course off eBay you don't get cute little feedback stars to impress yourself with.  :twistedevil:

Feedback stars Power seller status and more junk.

I never understood all that carp or why so many fell / fall for it.
But then again living in the States so many think they are so intelligent just because they live here
and so many need some identifiers to make them feel good about themselves.

IMO there are some really gullible people who live here and use feebay.
It is sad to see them think that somehow they are so smart because some company gave them a star.

I try NOT to use this profile to describe them but.
