Hey Race - I love Etsy (as a buyer, not seller). You should definitely check it out! I make jewelry and I was thinking about looking there in the spring when I have my 'down time'. I could spend hours browsing there.

Um I think those might be hallucinations you are experiencing that you can be successful on WP.

I seriously didn't make that up, lmao...

Hi Chiquita ~ thanks! Glad I found it too  Smile

Last spring I was in a charm bracelet mode, lol. Not normal charms, but the overloaded ones that were (maybe still?) popular. Did a bunch of different ones, pearls, crystals, sterling. I also make alot of my own earrings and they sell pretty well too. I started doing it as a hobby a couple years ago as a kind of 'stress relief'. Unfortunately, this time of year I'm too tired at the end of the day to even enjoy it so I keep it as my spring pick-me-up. The bonus is it supplements my income a bit during the after holiday slump. (I sell mostly gift/seasonal items so I REALLY get the slumperoo come March, lol)

I'm off to bed.... Catch y'all tomorrow!!

Racedream

Do check out Etsy.  I sell my handcrafted items there. Sales can be slow, but it gets far more traffic than WP and only costs 20 cents for four months per listing(+3.5% fvf).  They do advertise unlike WP. Thats the one newer site that I really think has some potential.

Thank you all for telling me to check etsy out. I will certainly do that tomorrow evening after work. I was tempted to start browsing tonight, but I know if I start I will be up all night looking at all the goodies and I have a long day tomorrow. I'll be lucky to get 4 hours of sleep tonight as it is. So I better shut this computer down now and get some sleep.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. What a breath of fresh air. I'm hitting the sack too but plan to be back tomorrow to share a bit more with you all. Eclectica, FineThings, PC, I remember all of you from the boards. Are we the most recent vanguard (I hope) leading the exodus?

Well I'm really surprised that none of tonights posts on WP didn't get deleted.  What is the sense of posting when they can't even answer at least one of your questions.  Imagine posting something that long and she couldn't even bother to answer or comment on any one of my questions, no reply of any kind, except that I should read the guidlines.  It's so convenient for her to turn things around when she doesn't like what you posted.  I didn't swear, I didn't call anybody names, I just stated the truth that the person posting was not K.  I guess that didn't go over too well and that's what I'm suppose to read up on.  What is the point of having a board when you can't even answer someones questions.  Unbelievable, I hope any of you cheer leaders reading this will take a long hard look at what's happening.  What reason would they have not to answer questions, when someone states something that is the truth but they just can't admit to anything, they just continue to lie and make it look like you did something wrong.  It isn't going to work Ray, you can't hide forever, one day a whole bunch more sellers I hope are going to wake up a "smell the coffee", you have no one to blame except yourself.  The way you treat people is a disgrace.  You call yourself a business.  This is no way to attract more buyers.  What is so wrong about telling the truth and admitting to things that people have figured out,  What exactly are you afraid of ????

Eclectica -- I can sympathize with you 100%! I was kicking myself in the butt so hard when I left Poopland, I was bruised from my waist to my knees. Whenever I thought of the time, energy and money I spent on that NO-BUSINESS venue, all of which I could have put elsewhere more productively, it made me sick. Not to mention the aggravation and sleepless nights wondering where my business was going because THE CULT LEADERS hide in the shadows, speak in tongues, and sellers who need to make a living (such as myself) are left dazed and confused with a "what-da-f*$k" expression on all their faces. I was even more angry at myself for being hasty about going there -- something VERY unlike me. I'm normally deliberate, contemplative, inquisitive, and thorough. I take very little at face value and weigh all sides before deciding on a course of action. WP caught me at a moment of weakness, 'cause I was so PISSED at eBay, I wasn't thinking straight. But that's what cults do. They prey on would-be converts when they are most vulnerable and defenseless. Despite that, I didn't lose it completely. I didn't burn my bridges and once I settled back down to reality, after a few days of digesting what eBay had done to me and getting over the initial shock, I got back to doing what I normally do -- ask questions and get down to business. I registered on WP July 19 and already by July 31 I was beginning to feel uneasy. The same items selling like hot cakes elsewhere were collecting dust on WP and all the cheerleaders were saying it was my fault. WHAT? My fault for not working hard enough, marketing properly, having "junk" items, etc. etc. After 9 years selling on line I'm suddenly a retard in this business and getting those come backs from others with little or no experience who are selling nothing? I don't think so, Jack-O.

Well, it goes on from there, and we all know how it ended. I know you feel like a fool right now, but it's not you that's the fool, it's all the other Poopers who Ray has in Kumbayatic stupers that are the fools. Sad, many don't even know it. They are inexperienced and naive -- relying on Ray to "show them the way" to that Golden Auction Venue in the Sky.

Anyway,  Smileywelcome It gets better. Do check out Etsey. It truly is the place for unique, hand-made, one-of-a-kind items. I don't sell there, but if I did have that kind of business, I would definitely consider it as a real alternative to eBay because it has created a niche.

And  Smileywelcome to all the other newcomers. It's weird for me to say that, as I've only been posting on this board since September, but I'd quickly settled in and learned a lot from sellers here who have a great deal more knowledge than I on the world of e-commerce, particularly when it comes to technical stuff.
