The not in good standing for NS is probably due to a late annual report filing.  Still, both companies are listed as inactive by the NH SOS and yet both are still operating under those names.  NSES is listed as dissolved by the NH SOS and yet their website still has the NSES name splashed all over it...

The Internet Merchants Association (IMA, formerly "still thinking about it", set up by 1busyman) now has membership criteria which will encompass a far larger number of eBay sellers than PeSA's exclusionary criteria.

The Internet Merchants Association (IMA) is a not for profit trade
association and home of some of the foremost merchants on eBay. The Association
was set up to provide its members with a forum for exchange of ideas, to build
upon each other's best business practices, and to have a unique presence on
eBay, where buyers of members' items can know for certain that IMA members
adhere to those best business practices.

It is generally understood that sellers applying for membership will meet all
of the below minimum requirements, however If you don't qualify based on the
requirements but feel you can to add to this group feel free to apply for
membership anyway as all applications are brought forth to the membership
committee for review.


    * 3000 minimum feedback

    * 98.9% rating

    * 1500+ positive in past 6 months (meaning about 250 in past 30 days)

    * $10,000 GMV per month

compare that to PeSA's requirements (and to the FACT that PeSA has dropped the mention of nonprofit from their website):

PeSA Seller Membership is open to all active eBay sellers who meet any TWO (2) of the following criteria (multiple User IDs may be combined):

eBay sales (Gross Merchandise Value) of $25,000 per month.
eBay fees (Listing plus Final Value Fees) of $1,500 per month.
500 positive feedbacks in the past 30 days.

Hey, look at that...unlike PeSA, the new IMa doesn't require that you feed mommy eBay at least $1500 monthly in fees as a criteria for membership.

and that's leaving aside the other question of whether the group ever filed for status as a tax exempt nonprofit with the IRS).

501c's have VERY strict accounting requirements. However, nothing that would prevent them from paying themselves administrative salaries.

Quite a few qualify (pugster888 w/1.28 million total transactions has a 99.6% and there are tons of other good sellers), but neither Posterboy (96.5%) or Cowboy Jay (98.8%) qualify...none of eforcity's 4 IDs (which are ranked #1, #2, #3, #4 on the unique FB charts) qualify   

I think setting it at 98.9% instead of the PS requirement of 98.0% (or is that 95.4%) is a good move and could give the group more credibility with buyers than a group like PeSA that allows members with 89.6% FB and 21,853 negatives...

In any case, having a customer service standard is a step in the right direction, as opposed to merely having a "I pay ebay lots of clams" standard.
