The idea of buying used goods, especially when advanced around the holidays, sounds rather pathetic, as if one is living a real-life version of a Charlie Brown Christmas. Who would want something used?

The answer is anyone who wants to save money. In a host of categories, from books to compact discs to cars, it doesn't make sense to buy new anymore. Now, there are robust marketplaces for used products, which are just as good and significantly cheaper. New technologies make it easier for shoppers to compare prices from a large number of sellers.
