Re: Ex PESA n's R US: Internet Merchants Association formed by ex PeSA members
IMA's $5K means the interests of a far greater percentage of eBay sellers will be represented than the tiny number that are represented by "the eBay Elite" (PeSA). I'd still like to see IMA lower the monthly GMV some more but $5K is much better than $25K.

(I agree with the B.ITCH) [/quote] //whispers: I guess I do too.// Everyone who has sold an item is technically a seller but not every seller is a professional seller. The interests and needs of a seller who cleans out their garage once a year and sells a few items on eBay are completely different than those of someone who sells for a living. The interests of a hobby seller are also completely different. One of the reasons PeSA has survived while other efforts to organize sellers failed is because PeSA is comprised of members who have similar business needs while the other seller groups weren't. In order for IMA to survive and thrive it needs to set minimums and limit its membership to "professionals" who have similar business needs. I still think the minimum GMV could be lowered some more though. |

News from the Internet Merchants Association Conference
News from the IMA Conference:
Quote:eBay will be rolling out new search-results functionality in March that will allow shoppers to sort results by total cost. Currently shipping is listed separately in search results so that sorting by price excludes shipping and handling costs. Quote:eBay indicated that hiding user IDs for bidders on items over $200 (part of the Safeguarding Member IDs - SMI - initiative) reduced fraud by 80-90% on fraudulent Second Chance Offers. "Given the significant improvement, eBay may lower the $ threshold further," Quote:IMA members were upbeat about working with Google, and Amazon remains an attractive channel due to relatively higher ASPs (average selling prices) and fewer customer service demands versus eBay. full article: http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y07/m03/i02/s03 |
