Techniques Ecommerce Sites Can Use to Gain Consumer Trust

Quote:Also, register your website with BBB and TrustE.org. These websites are independent nonprofit organizations that review sites. They also issue seals of trusts to those sites that employ strict privacy policies. Search engine optimization specialists say that seals of trusts from these websites increase sales by over 50% Wondering how important this is------I don't see that many of these seals and I don't look for them. Anyone with any thoughts on this? TY, Mandy! |

Quote:Wondering how important this is------I don't see that many of these seals and I don't look for them. Truste pricing (based on revenues) starts at $675 per URL https://getcertified.truste.org/ecommerc...on=pricing. Valleygirl and Maggie have both Truste and BBB seals. We only have 3 "trust" seals on our stores GeoTrust SSL, BizRate (free), and Authorize.net Verified Merchant (a new seal that authorize.net just introduced). We also have HackerSafe seals on 2 other sites. Seals do help in the "trust" department which is why some UNETHICAL site owners go so far as to put fake seals on their sites (until they get caught). I know one moron who in the past 2 years has been busted for fake Truste, HackerSafe, and Thawte seals on his site. I think that 50% increase in sales figure is a bit exaggerated though. There is an increase in sales from seals but I think it is much lower than 50%.

Re: Techniques Ecommerce Sites Can Use to Gain Consumer Trust
I looked into getting the BBB "Online" seal, but never followed through... I think because they require you to be a BBB member first, and I just never got around to sending in the app... I won't argue with the fact that it would increase trust and ultimately sales with some new customers, but I'm with Bargainbloodhound... that is, I wouldn't believe it's a 50% increase. Quote:I think I'll probably go with these. HackerSafe is offered through X-cart and LC for users. You won't be able to use HackerSafe on a shared server because of the port scanning/server load it requires. You'd need either a dedicated server or a VPS. HackerSafe is actually more expensive than Truste. The retail price is $1799 annually but many merchant account providers, and cart providers offer discounts of up to 70%. We're paying $99 monthly (which is for 2 sites). It actually would have cost us more per month for one site than it is for two.

Re: Techniques Ecommerce Sites Can Use to Gain Consumer Trust
This is what xcart offers, not HackerSafe.
Are any of these worthwhile, bbh? The HackerGuardian is $249.95 annually, or $29.95 monthly, the TrustLogo is $119 annually, and the Card Payment TrustLogo is $89 annually. |
