Has the society & atmosphere in PSU changed?

http://www.powersellersunite.com/about29053.html

Elgato exposes the true purpose of PSU as he disses all Alt sites and suggests that sellers return to ebay or start their own websites. All auction owners should take note - PSU is not your friend.

Elgato is in denial with his ridiculous assertion that PSU is just experiencing a seasonal slow down. PSU is wasting away because the moderators are not smart enough to reign in and control bullies like SF. Bob has abandoned PSU just like SF has abandoned his stinky little wannabe PSU site. Dare I say PSU is becoming a pointless cesspool of personal agendas.

Angel, you're a laugh a minute! First of all, everyone knows Lizard is less a Seller than he is a board Troll. Secondly, shouldn't you be taking your own advice and start listing your warehouse full of designer baby crap?
el ghetto Wrote:Not to sound condescending to the other online seller-type forums but PSU was one of the first and probably now the largest online public forum which sellers can learn about new and existing alternatives to selling online, whether creating their own online store or trying some of the alternative auction sites.

Not to sound condescending, but OAI history didn't start with the creation of PSU and the January 2005 crop of fee hike whiners. OAI forums, sellers ranting against Ebay policy changes, and sellers seeking an alternative to Ebay have been around since the late 90's and El Ghetto doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.  Do the names Gold's Auctions, Bidbay, Bidville, SellYour Item, OTWA, AuctionWatch, Moo Talk, ring a bell? The 1999 exodus to Gold's and Amazon Auctions and uproar that followed Pierre's "only a dollar" reserve fee comments? The 2000 and 2001 protests against banner ads and checkout and protesters moving to Yahoo Auctions, Bidville, Bidbay, ePier, and dozens of other sites?

El Ghetto is a brainless Boinktard
I don't even know why I go over there to read threads. It's pointless. They type out a lot, but don't EVER say anything we don't already know, such like the revelation that it will pick up this Fall. Duh!

Elgato needs to get his az off of PSU and fix up that ugly store of his. His store and a couple of others are the reason I never went with a PSU store. They are ugly, disorganized and show the complete lack of help given by PSU staff. If you want a nice looking store, DON'T go to PSU for one.

According to all rinky dink faithful, January is a seasonal meltdown. The snow falls and sales melt, as shoppers read the quarter used books they bought at their favorite rinky dink.
Then after 2 weeks of brisk sales, Feb 15th starts the spring slowdown, where folks stop buying $2 Wal-Mart clearance lingerie from rinky dink sellers after Valentine's day.
Then, Easter and Mother's Day are largely disappointing. The candy usually melts in the mail, and Mom's don't want clearance purses from Target.
Shooting into summer for more miserable sales, the weather keeps everyone outdoors so they can wear the thrift store and clearance clothes they bought in the 2 weeks of buying before Valentine's day.
Don't forget school... Sales of third-hand backpacks and thrift store shoes will parade around the Probidders for a couple weeks as they swap out old hand me downs.
Then sales stop again until after Thanksgiving, where a few sellers who sell decent merchandise have a few sales, and the rest of the sales swapping for Christmas begins with the other sellers.

So, 2 weeks for Valentines, 2 weeks for school, and 4 weeks for Christmas make up roughly 8% of the year where rinky dink sellers can swap out their gently soiled clothing, well read magazines, and thrift store rejects. So, if every rinky dink site admin claims this business theory, why isn't it OK for the moron PSU Mods to as well?
Oh, Lord. Good try at spin but "seasonal" ain't cuttin' an explanation for PSU's traffic drop. Summer is slower but PSU's traffic has fallen off the  cliff. Even a hard decision by ebay won't do more than pump the traffic for a week or two.

People don't want to be tightly controlled. If they did no one would leave their mommies and daddys.

I knew it!

You Shayer you. You know, Alison has been trying to find you so bad. She's lonely and needs to cuddle. She only joined AM so she could get closer to you, and now that you aren't there, she just doesn't know what to do with herself.

BTW, what are you gonna do with all those 30 cent DVD's?
[/quote]

Gonna' leave them DVD's on a rinky dink site 'cause I don't really wanna' get rid of 'em! I might, when I get in my right mind haul the whole lot of 'em out to the trash 'cause just reading the titles is worth 30 cents so I'm in the hole considering the time and effort of listing, packing and shipping...when I sober up I'll figure it all out, I'm sure.
Quote:Before I can start listing...

I have to find a new place to live.  Someplace with enough room to spread my items out, and get them organized.

I also have to purchase a new(er) computer, with a more recent OS than WIN 98 SE, and then either a printer/copier/scanner and/or a digital camera.

So for the time being, I just continue to accumulate more inventory.

Typical excuses on why they are too lazy to list their items but can still manage to sit on PSU all day and night.

It's just so sad.

It is if you're a porn, pharmaceuticals, or cell phone spammer. Happy001 The new topics section on the home page is full of porn spam again this morning.  Adding a captcha to the registration form would cut down on the spam problem.  Upgrading from the ancient phpBB 2 to phpBB 3 might be advisable too.

I went by there when I shut down 6 hrs ago and reported prolly  30 of those porn spam. Did same a few nights ago, spammer was immediately  banned and the board cleaned up. That's not the case now. Members are posting in the spam and keeping it in the recent topics  Big Grin

I'm pretty sure that the "reported" posts just terrified the spammers! Happy001 Happy001 Happy001

Yeah. And upgrade would help. Captcha would help. A little mod that checks login infos against a DB of known spammers would help. And  so would having someone check the forum every few hours. Ah, well, the natives are entertaining themselves poking this stuff up to recent posts...guess it's worth something.
PSU is a wasteland thanks to the crooked mods, the bullies and the useless, self-serving owner.
