He's a blow hard with a skewed way of thinking who tries desperately to convince himself that AM is a "big deal" because to admit otherwise would be to admit his mistake. That's what it's all about for Patch - being right, and he'll do or say anything to convince himself and others... Things like becoming an Examiner for the express purpose of promoting AM under the guise of being unbiased toward other sites, especially Bonanzle. Bonanzle is the site he knows he should be using, but he can't because he's spewed a volcano's worth of venom their way. His animosity reveals much about him. It wouldn't surprise me to learn that he's the kind of guy that always ends up on the losing team.

Mike has been jealous of Bonanzle since the day Ecommerce Guide wrote an article about them instead of him. Then when it was posted to PSU, the best "writer" within the AM fold wrote the thread about it being a viable eBay alternative for him.
Browser incompatibility
Shared SSL in a popup window with a totally unsecured site (he has now upgraded the popup to a dedicated SSL with a totally unsecure site)
Shared server incapable of handling more than 20 concurrent visits
Horrific load times
Terrible design
And every other problem that can be loaded into the above problems was there.
Bonanzle worked pretty well out of the gate, AM fell far short. He got jealous, and never saw daylight again. A sad story of how jealousy ruins a site's reputation.
He works so hard to eliminate duplicates on his site, yet can't figure out how to eliminate fakes from his site. His "programming" changes the item around regularly to force bots to continually visit, and alternatively keep infringing items always on different pages. He's no moron, but is he unethical by manipulating search engines for placement? Whenever Google notices this, that is considered posting duplicant content. The old page still indexed, the new page now indexed, equals duplicant content in Google's eyes. It won't take long, and if Google investigated AM in depth they would be zapped just like BluJay was last year.

Quote:For those that haven't heard about one of the other promising venues that is a viable alternative to eBay, I'd like to present the Atomic Mall. Brand new as of July 1st, 2008, the Atomic Mall offers an outstanding experience for both buyers and sellers alike. The whole intro spells jealousy. He started first, but got pushed to the side because his site had so many problems on startup:

Shared server incapable of handling more than 20 concurrent visits
