THAT was not a personal dispute... it was a ... say it with me now... CONVERSATION!!
It just happened to be from someone who hasn't had their share of Kool Aid today... Â
and still has some sensibilities of the common type... (common sense... hee hee)...
I'm a Â
and proud of it!!! Â Â
Hi Everybody !! Just had a random thought (yes, it actually happens sometimes).
We have discussed and guessed at the actual number of sellers on WP. This might make for an accurate count: Check all of the WP threads of sellers starting a "Buddy Page" or the like. Those cheerleaders all jump at the chance for some free spamming advertising.

It's definitely unique.

You took the words right out of my mouth...
must have been while you were kissin' me...Â
 Remember that song??Â
Thank You all for your kind words. I really appreciate it.
River is the go to gal for all your zen needs. She is awesome but you already know that.
Platz, thanks for the heads up on the boo boo. I originally was going to ship priority, but the cost was pricey, due to the weight factor. I ship the shoes in their original boxes. I will go fix it.
International shipping may be added at a later date. I am still hammering out a business plan, so I can borrow money from the SBA to buy inventory. I do get views from Canada pretty regularly so it is on my radar.
I also started a very small adwords campaign last night to test those waters too.

(like why doesn't the header cover all of the links? [/quote]
The person who coded the PurpleShades template made a boo boo. ;D Be thankful you're not using a TemplateMonster template. We bought one from them for our newest store and discovered that they strip many Zen functions out of their templates...now I have to try and figure out which files they removed everything from and add the functions back in.Â
I should have googled before buying because they apparently have a function stripping fetish...lots of complaints from Zen, osCommerce, and CRELoaded users.
Back to the header...
You can turn off the header category listing by going to configuration>layout settings>categories-tabs menu on/off and turning it off (change the 1 to a 0)
Quote:As of last night, my ISP at the store still hadn't updated the DNS server, so the old site shows up.
If your old site's hosting was included with your Internet connection you might have to call their tech support and tell them to manually remove the domain name from their DNS tables.
Platz,
How funny you mentioned international shipping. Just today I have had lookers from Copenhagen, Belfast, and Spain.
:blinkie:
That hadn't happened before.
First thing that I'd like to say is: Chiquita, your site looks really great! The best of luck with it and I hope you make lots of that green stuff!
Second I'd like to make a comment from a few pages back about what WP's are saying about this forum:
Quote:we have to have pity for the poor folks who feel that their lives are so worthless that they can't find something better to do. It is easier for them to blame WP for their own perceived lack of success than it is for them to admit that they still have much to learn.
No one here blames WP for their lack of success. Many were successful before they went to WP and still are. We all believed in WP, as you all do now. If it wasn't for the die-hard, stubborn WP's like myself back then in May, there might not even be a WP today.
So, if you are a daily lurker, you all know that I am a new member to this forum. I'm here mostly because a lot of the former "real founding members" are here and that would include myself. The best thing that ever happened for me at WP, was meeting sellers and still being friends with them all, as we all have a common goal. Just like you. To succeed in cyberspace business. I would suggest that you lurkers try to go back to page one and read the pages within this forum, just like a book.
I have a few reasons why I left WP but the bottom line was when it came time for me to pay them the 9.95 out of my pocket, even tho I had hundred's of items in my stock and no sales to cover the monthly rent, it was time to say bye bye. I spent a lot of time promoting WP and it just wasn't paying off anymore. I've been doing a lot of research lately on the new auction sites that have sprouted up in the past 2 years. My conclusion so far, with WP included, they have no buyers. Just sellers who buy, occasionally. Auction sites are geared towards nabbing sellers to their sites to fill up their categories and not to get buyers to the sites. Apparently, that's the job of the sellers only. That's my 2 cent's worth for today.
Apparently the Poppers are still questioning why the thread was deleted:Â :blinkie:

It's no surprise that that post was removed, this is no place for nitpicking and complaining and general counter productive nonsense, but there is line on censorship, unless there was more of the post then I saw, it hadn't gotten that bad yet! Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I agree xxxxxxxx, if it was going to be pulled, it should have before it got to the point where someone was pointing out comments that others had made was wrong, afterall Karen, you had posted some comments on that thread as well. I'm guessing this other person made other remarks after my last comment on the post, and I did not see them.
And KaRay's reply:

xxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Yes, I believe there were posts subsequent to yours, although I cannot remember at present exactly how many.
I thought the thread was kind of interesting and for the most part, productive and constructive and thus my participation, even though we generally do not allow "continuation" threads from other non-WP boards.
Once it turned personal, it was my responsibility to take action as per existing policy. Personal disputes are not allowed on the boards, no exceptions, so that the policy may be enforced equally.
We think it is important to keep our forums friendly and courteous as a further way of defining our community and differentiating ourselves from the sort of unseemly things most boards will allow.
We have always regularly pruned the boards of posts outside of the current guidelines as a matter of normal procedure. That policy will continue so that while we can allow posts without moderated approval, we can still enforce the guidelines for participation.
To not do so would be to imply that every post is within guidelines, and that unfortunately is not always the case. To allow posts outside of guidelines to remain would be unfair to the community as a whole that respects and abides the User Agreement and Board Participation Policy.
It takes a bit more work to do that, but in the end, we believe firmly it makes for a much stronger and better community that welcomes members rather than provide outlet for personal issues or disputes

Once again...double standards. In KaRay's eyes there was nothing wrong with the deleted thread as long as it was praising WP and slamming any sellers who had left the flock.Â
Hey Ray, just so you won't think I've forgotten youÂ

Bric thanks for the well wishes. You are dead on with the above statement. Ebay is still the dominant force in the auction industry. With the exception of ecrater (which is not an auction site and is free) Etsy a specialty site (no auctions) and your own website, there are literally 100's of small auction sites, lots of them have closed up shop already too. They have sellers no doubt, but the buyers still go either to Ebay, or shop online with established sites, or from independent sites.
My buying days on Ebay have dwindled down to almost nil. I buy from Amazon for books, and use froogle and search engines to find what I buy. I also have made an effort to buy from those I know whenever possible, and also am supporting independent sites.
Ray is charging when 100's of sites are free.
