It's a sad day for infiltraters, haters, troublemakers, and jealous types.Â
An explanation for the recent drop in listing count:
Quote:Sellers do not not pay their monthly seller invoices or respond to multiple late notices have their accounts terminated and listings deleted as a natural consequence, and would account for the great majority of listing count variations during the last week of each month

I was wondering how long it would take for KaRAy to post an explaination. And right on cue, here is the same explanation. At least this time, it states
would account for the great majority of listing count variations during the last week of each month. The amount that isn't from non-payment is because poppers have awoken from their stupor and have gotten out of Pop Land.

Quote:99% of applications for membership are from good an honest people, and for them, registration is as easy as it has ever been.
Karen, CC
Funny how that same 1% might be the people stuck on dial-up due to regional issues, or due to monetary issues.
Funny how that 1% might also apply to people who can't get or won't get a cel phone.
[/quote]
Exactly. See my previous post:
Quote:So, if 1% are dishonest you would need to locate/contact 10,000 registrants (1%of 1%) to catch one "possible" non-verified registrant with the "new system". That's assuming, of course, that there is no margin of error in verifying 10,000 applicants (e.g. applicant mistypes the call-back number or typos the address). Is it possible for THAT PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL in 10,000 applicants to be among the 15% who YOU CLAIM do not have cable access or the 9% who don't have cell phones (like me), and therefore could not be verified?
And all this has been accomplished IN 2 DAYS? Damn -- I'm impressed!

Like, DUH.

I realize you may have figured out his ploy immediately--but some of the rest of us (or at least me) initially assumed he might be trying to put some lame-o security feature in place to stave off "detractor" concerns about fraud on the site--along with the added dish of keeping tabs on "enemies."
It became more apparent to me that his ONLY purpose was to monitor "detractors" and he doesn't care about the real fraud at all. At first, I thought it may have been both.
Are you saying "duh" to RiverRat, or me? Or just as a general observation?

Hello Members,
The account reviews process completed yesterday and the addition of automation to the account status process monthly may be our single most important moment to date, and should serve as a clear signal of our intentions moving forward.
We certainly would not define the Stores and roughly 2,000 items that no longer appear active due to non-payment of seller fees as a loss LOL.
Rather, it has made our community a stronger one, by tangibly defining who we are and what we want to be, and we feel it is a clear mandate from management that fairness and responsibility are valued first above all else.
Much of the way we operated in 2006 was necessary for two important reasons: to attract a pool of users from which we would narrow and define our base for 2007, and to allow time to discover and address issues which appear only in a live site long-term environment.
We have not and will not ever operate the site simply to inflate or tout participation statistics. That's meaningless.
We are incredibly excited about all of the upcoming changes and implementations for Q1 2007 and beyond, and confident that we now have the exact seller "base" that we'll need to support the upcoming marketing. Of course, those efforts will and should support only sellers in good standing.
3:23 am EST this morning when seller account reviews were completed marks the first step in building and marketing a bigger and better worldwide Wagglepop.
One step back to take two steps forward.
This is basic Business 101

They just purged the non-payers according to this post on January 2. Â And, drumroll please, roughly 2,000 listings went with the non-payers. Â Does this mean that every seller who does not pay has approximately 2,000 items? Â It's starting to sound redundant.
No surprise that Ray comes out of hiding when his store count has dropped to 408 (and we all remember that some sellers have multiple stores). Â No - WAIT - this must be the big advertising campaign for Q1 2007.
Drop the bullshit Ray, and come over here and answer our questions. Â You just want to spin your story your way and not be accountable for your dynamic censorship and questionable ethics.

I just turned SpamGuard Off and now I am receiving
notices from the TT community.
But I can't keep SpamGuard on off.
I'll try and put TT on the don't block list and see
if that helps.
Oh great Yahoo doesn't have an
don't block list.
Could someone
HELP ME??
These messages are not making it to my
bulk folder AT ALL. What can I do?

General observation. Under no circumstances would Ray ever institute a policy that would benefit anyone but himself and his pocketbook. To even "think" the implementation of any feature that would do otherwise is giving him way more credit than he will ever deserve. When you think "Ray", think "control freak" and "greed."
Apart from "policing" the re-registration of "infiltrators" and "trolls", having lists of "location/phone verified members" can be sold
shared for more money to "third party partners," which WP clearly states it does do in the TOS.
Nikki,
Rudely I didn't welcome you earlier so....Â
You have the right idea. Program your Spam Guard accept TT emails.
Welcome, Nikki!

Understood.
I realized after I asked that question that it might have sounded like I was being a jerk. I wasn't trying to sound like an a$$hole.
I gave him way more credit than he deserved for a little bit there, assuming he was doing it for the sake of appearance and reputation ("We fight scammers so well! Come join us...") AND tab-keeping, a rather than just tab-keeping.
p.s. I can't even get Wagglepop to load right now.
