Quote:Didn't Karen WPoop1 say that exact same quote this year?Â
Even after not reading much of the WP boards, I've always maintained that Karen is Ray!Â
I want numbers for SALES.Â
This isn't eBay, you can't blow smoke up our butts just by giving us listing and store numbers. Â
I sure hope theat the owners of those 15,000 Wagglepoop listings have a second source of income because the average seller isn't going to even sell enough to cover their $9.95 store fee.
-------
Updated figures on the other site that has been active in forums this week HiBidder.com:
Stores: 314
Listings: 13,874
Members: 1254
Total Sales: $10,255.07
Items Sold: 889
0.7 sales per member since site opened
$8.17 in sales per member since site opened
the site has been open about 8 months so:
0.09 average monthly sales per member
$1.02 average monthly sales per member
After 3 months of selling on HiBidder the average seller will have sold almost enough to buy one gallon of gas  :

I doubt that the sales are very high right now, but then again, many people weren't getting very many sales on ebay either.
The mall and auction formats are kinda old news. A novelty act that has petered out. I rarely look at any of them anymore. It was a strong trend for awhile but I think most people like to see a focused identity that's strong enough to stand alone. The fraud issue alone has driven a lot of people away from group activities.

Ditto. I also think that the "alternative venue" everyone has been waiting for officially opened on June 29th but people don't realize it because it's not a traditional "venue" format. Google Checkout will in effect make Google's search engine "the venue" and the winners will be individual websites selling fixed price items. Checkout may also help to alleviate many of the fraud concerns people currently have when shopping on smaller web sites.
I would say you're probably right, amy.
If Amy says it and Stardust backs her... then I believe it.Â
