Quote:I made a killing in the early days on the items I did sell.
Ebay sell through rates in the early days were around 80%. WP has been below 1% most weeks.
Quote: I think the poster on WP was focusing on "the community" memory of old ebay, and not on sales, just like they are doing now
The message board IS Wagglepop. If you're not an active participant on the boards you won't have sales.

EXCELLENT OBSERVATION!!!!!!!!! Sales report is due tomorrow. Can't wait to see what kind of "spin" KaRay puts on the "leveling off" of sales this week.

Quote:Getting closer to my moving in and setting up a store. I have a couple of questions.
1. Is it better to open a basic store for $9.95 a month at first or would it be better to go for the Featured Store right off the bat?
2. If I start with a basic store and want to change to a featured store does anyone know how billing works on that? Are you just charged the additional $40 that month or do you have to pay $9.99 + $49.99??
I am asking because I am putting my store budgets together and need to make sure I plan accordingly.
Thanks much for your help.
Karen replied:
Quote:The two different Store upgrades are:
- Featured Upgrade $10.00 Monthly
- Showcase Upgrade $30.00 Monthly
You can add one or both of these upgrades to your Basic Store subscription.
Your monthly Store posting date is the same date each month as the date you opened your Store, and the upgrades will be pro-rated that first month to match up precisely with that date
OP asked for clarification:
Quote:Thanks Karen,
I want to be clear on this so if I upgrade in the middle of the month I know what my bill will be.
So if I start at the first of the month with a basic store for $10 and then decided midmonth to upgrade to a featured store then I would be billed $15.00 for the month, correct?
The Featured upgrade would be prorated for the rest of the month, correct?
Sorry just want to clarify.
Wonder what the answer will be......
Quote:The charge is pro-rated relative to your monthly Store posting date.
If there are 15 days until your posting date, the pro-rated charge posted to your seller account upon upgrading would be approximately one-half of the full monthly price.
The full charge will post on the actual monthly Store subscription posting date thereafter
So if I understandÂ
this message from Ka - Ray Mommie dude then if you upgrade in the middle of the month you would only pay what they feel you should but you will be billed again immediately for the full amount on your next month's billÂ
I am so Ka-ray confused!
You've pretty much deciphered what RR just said, I think.
The vulgar one showed up for breakfast...

Good morning everyone....anyone want the last grape?
(its a picture of a grape stem with one grape dangling from the bottom.) Not sure how to get pics on here if someone wanted to see it.
He didn't learn.
OOPS! Forgot the quote marks on his "good morning everyone" post.
Anyways, punched last night for hours & hours until I was exhausted. It wasn't very satisfying at first...not until I drew a throat under each cheerleaders name.
And Chiquita, I added many extra punches for those on here that wanted me to. ;D
A pooper talking about closing her store on ebay...
Quote:I don't know whether to scream or cry. Ack. I was really hanging on because to cancel was admitting failure. I was planning to keep it open until after Christmas but with no sales since October 9, I wasn't going to keep paying for nothing. Sad, very sad. In the spring, I was selling left and right. Then E pulled the plug on store inventory and it kept going downhill from there.
Haven't been doing much better over here, though. I've had one sale in the past month, on October 29 and haven't heard from the buyer at all. Two little books and no payment. Eeeesh. I sent an invoice and a few days ago, an e-mail reminder. I guess I'll PM them one more time then give up. This person has good feedback, for quick payment, so I"ve been concerned something is wrong on their end. Don't know what to think.
I am so bummed right now. Just tell me things will get better! I have to pick myself up and trudge on.
Thanks for listening! I need some good WagglePop vibes!
Then some koolaid was passed out by a few...
Quote:You don't need good vibes - just good instincts and I suspect deep down your instincts are alive and firing on all cylinders.
I too am waiting for the deluge of bidding and sales we once enjoyed on you know whErE. I can relate that I sold books for handsome prices but the listings fees for the ones that didn't sell absorbed the profit realizied from any chunky sell.
On Wagglepop, we're buried treasure and someday the sand will be wiped away and we will be gratefully exposedl
Hang in there...
Hugs and support sent your way...
Quote:I was a Power Seller over there on E, then the sales disappeared overnight.
I closed my store over there at the end of July, so I know how hard it was for you to press the cancel subscription button.
I didn't wait around for E to tell me that I had lost my Power Seller status before I closed my store. Would not give them that satisfaction.
Wagglepop is awesome and Customer Service is unparalleled. I got tired of the E abuse and waggled on over here in August and have never regretted one moment.
We are a treasure that is waiting to be discovered and all of us will be here when they come, because we are building it and the staff at Wagglepop are taking the journey with us.
Welcome to the group!
Good LUCK!
Then the OP again...
Quote:Hi everyone!
Thank you so much for all your encouragement. You're right, this is a great place to be. I think I needed a pep talk. It hit me harder than I thought it would when I hit the cancel link and realized all that work was down the drain and I had to start all over again.
(name deleted), I'll have to dig out my e-mail list of customers. Although I think a lot of book buyers are one-time customers, it's worth a shot. I've tried just about everything else.
(name deleted), it's great to talk to other booksellers. There are so many books in the world, there's room for all of us. The only ones I don't like are the megasellers if they give poor customer service and make it harder on the rest of us. We need great variety and stocked shelves to keep the customers here on WagglePop. You and (name deleted and name deleted) and others are great inspirations to keep listing!
