Quote:That though, is why the sellers still there will be there until doomsday. They believe his, or "Andrew's" words as gospel. I keep reading here and at PSU that 80% of the sellers left WP. The truth is, as "Andrew" stated, if all the sellers/stores that closed were still open, there would be 3,000 today. This means that nearly 95% of sellers left, leaving Ray with about 5% positive feedback rating by my calculator. According to Britannica, that's the same percent of Americans that belong to groups widely acknowledged as cults. Does anyone see a similarity? In a cult, all the members follow the leader who has basically brainwashed them to believe his way is "the" way. His words become truth. But... It is not the member's faults, they have done nothing wrong. They simply believe in a con-artist's vision blindly.
OMG! You naughty boy! You used the "C" word!
Go back to about page 100 of this thread. That's when I left WP and came here. You'll see my whole dissertation on Cults and WP, which it fits point by point -- all 26 of them. I later discovered I was not (contrary to popular opinion) the first to recognize this. The same was said in a post describing WP1 when it first started.
My big objection with WP is that it is touted to be something it's not (a business, when in fact it is a cult-like organization) being run by someone who claims he is something other than what he professes to be, living by his rules alone. WP is an entity based on lies, pretense, hypocrisy, showmanship and personal gain of one person -- and possibly a close entourage of a small handful, if most, adoring disciples -- whose world view is defined by their leader's ego. PERIOD.
OMG somebody just shoot me now, please?
I just went and re-opened my store on evil bay. I shut it down last July during the fee hike fiasco.Â
Does anybody here have a Premium evil bay store and would you please tell me if it outweighs the basic, as in exposure?
I feel like such a traitor.Â
This one is for you RayÂ

We had a featured store for a couple of years but dumped it in 2004. I never noticed much of difference in exposure between basic and featured...just in fees.

Same here. I only kept it for a year though. I don't see any real advantage... especially now that the keywords program is kaput.
Thanks for your input. Â
I was sitting on the fence about the Premium store, but I will just go with Basic.Â

Basic for me. Never went beyond that. Never felt the additional cost was worth it. Just my 1 cent.

If I am mistaken, someone please correct me... It's been almost a year since I had an active eBay store as well. I had to run as featured because my category had SO many store items listed. Whenever a search returned less than 30, 30 store inv. listings would show up with featured and anchor stores receiving the top priority. Also, I believe that featured store inv. was supposed to have priority on Express (if that matters?)
Run a search for some of your items you will be selling, and if store inv. listings show up, but there are a LOT of store inv. not showing at the bottom, then you may want to get that extra edge. If nothing else, just try it for a month since your first month's basic fee should be free.
And P.S. Don't feel like a traitor. The only reason I haven't reopened on eBay is because of Paypal limiting my account earlier this year, holding over $1000 for 4 months for no reason (I just got it back!) Since it's a waste of money to list without Paypal on eBay, I don't do it... But if they EVER allow Google Checkout I will be all over eBay again. The fees may be horrible, but you can't get the traffic anywhere else.
164 WP stores
EDIT:
73,755 Etsy stores
TRIVIA:
Ebay art category: 151,497 items
Etsy art category: 81,172 items
Wagglepop art category: 68 items
Wagglepop is killing Etsy in the overpriced car floor mat category though.

I had a featured store once two or three years ago. I couldn't tell any difference whatsoever, but it may have just been me and things could have changed since then.

I've sold very successfully on eBay for the last year and a half without offering PayPal. In fact, it actually works to my advantage. Buyers have to go to my website if they want to pay via credit card and 95% of them do so without any reservations whatsoever.Â
Granted, WHAT you sell may make a difference in how well it works. I would suspect brand new items might not sell as good, but if you have a niche product or something used/harder to find, it would still be worth a shot to give it a try.
For me...Life is good without PayPal.Â

Maybe WP ought to get rid of all the categories with 100 or less items, just like it did with forums having 100 (I think it was) or less responses.
