Congratulations everyone on the new sales! You should pat yourselves on the back. That is proof that if you sell something that someone is looking for, word it nicely with key words, it will get indexed and people will find you! It really doesn't matter if it is here at WP and their dynamic organic method, Ebay and their overly expensive advertising method or your own site, as long as you the seller word it nicely, sooner or later it is going to be spidered and the buyers will come!
Remotes4less - I am always eyeballing those watches. I am waiting for a sale, wink win. lol
I think WP has some of the best, nice and honest sellers out there. All the sellers work so hard to add more listings and grow WP.
There may be all those nasty stand up comic miscreants that have nasty things to say, but that is just human nature. It is the nature of the beast to want to vent frustration when one feels misunderstood and not listened too. What one has to do is look past the nasty comic relief to get to what specifically they are complaining about.
Do I think there were people who didn't want to see WP succeed? Sure.
Do I think all the people who are writing negative things are doing it because they heard so many negative things and just jumped on the bandwagon? No.
At one point there were 900 stores here. More than 600 are gone. A lot were disappointed after the Grand Opening in March. After being told of a budget of $75,000 for advertising, some felt very very discouraged after that and were having less traffic. For all them to be lumped into a catagory of non paying, impatient sellers is not fitting.
My mothers favorite phrase was "There is always two sides to a coin".
For a strong company to succeed, we need to look at some of the complaints and see how things can be made better.
For all you get at WP for $9.95 it is very reasonable, especially compared to Ebay. But like we all know, there is a lot of other competitors. Not just Ebay. A lot of them are free. So, for some people, even that $10 cannot be spent at this time here. Most people when they come to venues like this and have to pay, they expect to see more traffic and advertising.
I have had a few customers/sellers leave due to personal reasons and a lot more leave due to some of the grievances that have been noted on the boards.
So the question still is "what more can we do"?
now let me get off the box
Bolding my own.
OhOhOH, be careful for standing up and giving voice! And giga-kudos to her!
My response:
I'm not asking for a refund. You have money that belongs to me. All I am asking for is $9.95 out of $64.40. What you are doing is ilegal. Your AdSmart User Agreement doesn't hold up in courts. A person cannot sign away their rights. My right is to ask for a credit for funds collected by a an on line company. We can fight or you can clear my wife's account.
Quote:Here is what I have learned about the Alexa traffic rank recently:
The lower Alexa rank is really just because there are so few sellers compared to December. The flood of sellers from Oct-Dec that came and left overnight drove the rank up, since so many online sellers use the Alexa toolbar. Actually, I know that many of the sellers used the toolbar so they could see daily traffic ranks on WP and other sites. The toolbar is the primary way Alexa tracks a site's activity. Therefore, I really don't place much stock in the Alexa ranking, because I think it was artificially inflated with the extra come-and-go sellers. Sure, it was nice to see the 50-60,000 rank for a while, but it was bound to fall. Using just the Alexa stats available, my breakdown shows that while 70% of the sellers have left but only 40% of the traffic has disappeared. Many of the 70% of sellers that left didn't have much lasting positive impact on the site, just judging from the listing counts and sales. Alexa compared to the sales means most the sellers have been replaced by buyers, and the sellers here are reaping the rewards of waiting.
Now, I see a huge window still for Wagglepop to succeed. The majority of stores that closed this year were either for non-payment, or the sellers may have listed a dozen items expecting immediate sales. Most obviously didn't read these boards, and see that was not the way to make sales on WP. If anyone is looking to increase the traffic here... List EVERYTHING, buy or make more items with the income from your sales to keep new, fresh items for sale, and the traffic and sales will grow. Before long, a solid customer base comes along that will constantly visit your store looking for what you will have next. Add in the occasional new satisfied buyer that comes back for more, and that is how you build a business. There are over 24,000 unique monthly visitors at WP. Out of 24,000 people, there is going to be someone looking for what you have... All that needs to be done is to list it.
As far as what I have learned about Alexa though, until you have several million hits a day, it is very difficult to just use the Alexa rank.
I prefer to use Quantcast, compared to Alexa, for full stats.
http://www.quantcast.com/wagglepop.com
This gives a much more detailed explanation of different keywords, possible places visitors enter the site from, etc.
Bolding is mine
This is still piffing me off because this person KNOWS better! WTF? They know why the majority of sellers left. What the hell? Has this person stooped so low from drinking all of the kool aid and is now pandering to KayRay? What is the point and why the 180 from a few short months ago?
Non Payment my arseÂ
Obviously didn't read the boards, my arseÂ
Listing only a dozen or so items????Â
DUDE! Anybody who knows anything about stats knows that you can make stats look any way you want them to look. Don't like the Alexa stats so pick another site? Strange, indeed, as KaRay was liking the Alexa stats a while ago.
And, ohhhhhhh puuuuuuuulease, don't give the majority of paying on time, many listings. past WP'ers lessons on how to build a business. Most of us here know how to build a business and part of that business plan does not now include WP, for obvious reasons. Trust me when I say.. It takes more than a *build it and they will come* attitude to build a business.
