The new registration process only applies to new people signing up, correct? They're not going back through and making current members do it, are they?
[/quote]
Correct. Existing members appear to be grandfathered.
Edited to add: But if an existing member decides to open a new store or register with a buyer only ID, they must complete the new process. No brownie points for past faithfulness, trust and honesty or commitment. Â
YOHB, thank you. I live in pain, have been for many years. Have arthritis throughout my body, along with other ailments. But I don't let it stop me from leading an almost normal life. I still work a full time job (not because I have to, but because I want to), am a single mom, I make jewelry and crochet, and I am loving life.
Now, if I could just find a good man, I'd have it madeÂ
How will the phone verification be completed if you are on a dial up connection? Has that been explained to anyone yet by KaRay? If it takes seconds to complete, how will that work for dial upÂ

The rumor is (I have not confirmed this) that they do a callback within 5 seconds, which appears to be a problem for dial up users.
I'm sure it's possible to change that. TulipHosting also does a phone verification callback, but you have a lot of flexibility and the call takes several minutes to come through--which gives you plenty of time to disconnect if you're on dial-up (or to find your phone, if you're like me, when you hear it ringing. LOL).

Eeee Gads! Not a viable solutiion. I'm lucky, I'm on cable...but I don't own a cell phone (the other option) as tooted in this post as a winning combo for the Revolutionary minded:
Quote:Based on the consulting research done before the implementation:
- Approx. 85% of all "typical online users" have cable modem access
(which increases to roughly 96% for "typical online auction users")
- Approx. 91% of all "typical online users" have cell phones
(which increases to roughly 98% for "typical online auction users")
Additionally, both groups are rising each day meaning the dynamic projects to go from "very near" to "almost at" 100% over the next 12-18 months, estimated.
Our research concludes that users with the unique combination of both dial-up and no cell phone is quite small; likely in the 2-3 percent range at most, and dropping.
It's simply an unalterable reality that we must use stronger and better methods to combat fraud (and we have that commitment) than were used ten years ago in 1997, or even five years ago in 2002

It's discrimination pure and simple. Those who have no access despite their financial means, to cable or cell phone towers, will be disqualfied. There are a lot of areas in the US and Canada that cannot satisfy either advancement due to remoteness from populated and serviced areas, lack of fiber optic lines or cell towers installed. BOTH can and will affect Joe Blow just looking to buy a product from their isolated home computer. They will be shut down and shut out.Â
