Poppers seem less than excited about the new guides.
Karen replies, I added the bolding.
So even the poppers suspect that WP is merely copying Ebay now.
Quote:Although I think that guides could be an excellent and valuable addition to the WP site, my experience has been (over on eBay) that guides were used mostly for blantant self-promotion and provided no helpful information whatsoever. Personally, think shoppers and store owners are better served by WP's policy of unlimited custom store pages that store owners can use to publish guides or otherwise helpful information.
Quote:To chime in, I've visited the guides board over at the other place, and they are indeed filled with complaints about how the system is abused. It seemed like such a good idea to me at first, but then hearing about the abuses... Now I'm not so sure.
Maybe Wagglepop could restrict the number of guides any one individual could publish in order to keep the number within reason of being policed?
I understand that guides are useful for attracting outside connectivity to search engines (sorry, don't know the right term for that), but I'd hate to see the Pop blindly follow everything being done at ebay, many of which aren't working out so well.

Quote:As designed, Wagglepop Buying & Collector Guides bears very little similarity to eBay's Tips & Guides feature.
Our feature is designed specifically and soley as a direct and contextual tabbed resource for potential buyers to use while shopping, and as such, ultimately help in making more sales and creating educated and satisfied customers.
Guides have no value in and of themselves, except for the benefits they may impart to interested buyers.
Once integrated, we'll have keyword and/or category specific search results with the following six tabs:
All Items (includes Auctions, OneBid, and Buy It Now)
Auctions
OneBid Instant Purchase
Buy It Now
Wanted
Guides
We feel that this design and layout will represent the complete range of tools necessary to bring buyers and sellers together, more often, and lead to more satisfied long-term relationships
